After a year from when I scheduled my initial consultation to now, it finally happened! The procedure took about 5 hours at Henry Ford doing the robot assisted hybrid PPT-PI vaginoplasty. Currently in recovery for about 6 days before I'll hopefully be discharged to go home to continue my recovery.

The buildup and anticipation leading up to the surgery date was probably the worst part so far. My pain is currently tolerable, but we'll see how it is once I need to start moving around more πŸ˜…

Welp once you're 100% and around the Rockies hit a brother up :p

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what top surgery is for, isn't it?

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

No Silicone.

Wow 6 days, you're lucky. I only got 2 nights in the hospital approved from my insurance, though they will likely eventually pay for the third because I nearly passed out in the lobby sitting in a wheelchair waiting for a Lyft ride to the AirBnB I had to pay for myself to recover locally. Hospital is still fighting them over it since October.

I had full depth PPT. And though I didn't have complications with the vaginal canal, I'm anxious to get some revision on the labia and clitoris so I can maybe start dating again. I miss cuddling and sex. Lol. But even with the complications, I'm still super happy I did it. I feel like it made me feel more free to be myself even if few people have even seen it outside of healthcare providers. I've worn more skirts, dresses, and makeup than ever. 😁

I hope healing goes well for you. It's a long process so dont get frustrated if you have setbacks. It's so worth it!!! Rest, drink lots of water, dilate regularly, and enjoy the downtime. It goes by quick.

[–] matchaotter@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're going to do great! HF has been incredible so far. Once my bandages come off and the wounds healed some, I'd be glad to share results

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Oh wow that is very kind! I appreciate that :) Good luck on your recovery! 🩷

I have a question for you, and if it's too personal, I apologize. I've known a few people who have had limbs amputated, and they have at least some "phantom limb" feeling leftover even though the limb is completely gone. Are you experiencing anything like that with the parts that were removed?

[–] ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not OP but I had surgery a couple years ago. I had phantom dick for 2-3 months and it was really weird while it lasted. It wasn't a constant sensation or anything just periodically my brain would fill in what it expected something to feel like (such as putting on undies) then there would be a moment of confusion. Sometimes it was like my balls were itchy but I had no balls.

The real trip though has been over the last couple years my brain has been replacing memories of my previous equipment with the new gear. It's led to some disjointed memories where I might be in a sexual experience that doesn't work without a dick but try as I can to remember it accurately I just get a paradox.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 5 points 2 days ago

wow, that's mad. I never thought of phantom sensitivity in this context. Phew

So far, I can't say that I have. Granted, it hasn't even been 24 hours since I came out of surgery as of right now. There was this sensation that almost felt like a had a sore penis at first, but I think that was pressure from the catheter that has subsided.

There's discussion about that here. Warning: reddit

[–] Chr0nos1@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Thank you, I'll go through that post. I appreciate you linking to it.

Doesn't happen to people because the majority of tissue here is moved not removed

[–] Keshara@piefed.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago

[–] lwhjp@piefed.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 days ago

Yay, congratulations πŸŽ‰ That's awesome <3

(Mine's in four months... eep!)

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago
[–] pooberbee@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 days ago

Congratulations! I hope recovery goes smoothly! I'm having (different) surgery next month, and I'm nervous!

Congratulations! πŸ’œ

Congratulations! Please take care of yourself as you recover and go easy on your pain (excess pain inhibits recovery, so take your meds as instructed).

[–] Shanoa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Congrats! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I'm still waiting for mine to be scheduled, maybe within the year if I'm lucky.

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Ohhh jealous of that operating-technique!!

You basically have to dilate way less, as a bonus too, right? (Compared to e.g. the combined method).

We don't have that in Germany, otherwise I maybe wouldn't aim for zero depth myself.

Hope you'll have a quick recovery!!

[–] matchaotter@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

I was told that the dilation schedule will be the same as other methods, but they had significantly more tissue to create the vaginal canal and aesthetic outer vagina with this method. It's less likely to lead to atrophy and prolapse this way, but it is a more invasive surgery as they enter through the stomach to pull down the peritoneal tissue.

[–] ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Not OP but I got robot assisted PPT-PI a couple years ago. I currently don't really even dilate. I've lost some depth because of it but I just use toys once or twice a week and it has been holding steady at 6-7in for maybe 8mo now. I do also have a near constant slight drip so I have to wear pads a lot lol

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

I upvoted, downvoted, then upvoted. The downvote is because of surgery and hospital PTSD. The upvotes are because I wanted to upvote you twice. Congratulations!!!!! I hope you have a speedy recovery.

waoow, im incredibly scared of any type of surgery, even dental lol
how it its? how the pain right after surgery, yeah bumped with a lot strong pain meds but still how its ? but what it will be by stopping pain meds?

you are hero! that complex and hard surgery, the price?(im think is most painful than surgery itself)

im planning just getting orchi kheh, some surgeouns do it in russia but its super hard to get info since they cencor themselfes for security reasons(look at history of one girl where her mom with ultrafar-right wing worse than govr itself stopped the surgery(idk was it bottom or not but it was in Tolyati))

but im know 3 ffs surgeouns inside russia (bruh any which know how to work with bone countour is ok, but some of them are just can be transphobic) and Anna Sluzkaya in Yerevan ffs isnt super expensive because private healthcare here is always cheap kheh like in most post-socialist country (im dont planning getting it but blah im know 3 ffs surgeouns but 0 orchi ones),

idk maybe possible do orchi through corrupt a local doctor in my small city somehow, like its minimaly invasive surgery, like why trans organizations centered in t*legram and only through it possible to get friendly doctors lol
the surgeries like orchi still do inside russia like moscow for example

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellll, one surgeoun even didnt removed the mentions of transgenders, holy, like some other is more neutral but still mentions transness on their(updated) site like reason for feminization-masculinization, along "women who want be more feminine" or reverse image
and it have vajajaplasty listed hell
