Donald Trump announced Sunday that Republicans plan to dispense a large “Election Integrity Army” to every single state for the 2026 midterms – invoking his debunked claims that the United States does not have fair elections. In a message on his Truth Social platform the president appeared to attribute his “Historic Election in 2024” to the fact that the Republican National Committee sent thousands of volunteers across the country to poll watch or assist with election litigation through a volunteer program. “During my Historic Election in 2024, when I won every single Swing State, and decisively won both the Electoral and Popular votes by wide margins, the Republicans had an Election Integrity Army in every single State to preserve the sanctity of each legal vote. We will be doing the same again in 2026, but it will be much bigger and stronger,” Trump wrote. Trump did not elaborate on who would be part of the “Election Integrity Army” or how large it would be.

So lemme get this straight: the guy who won the last election is claiming that the elections are rigged? I'm just trying to understand here

[–] kurmudgeon@lemmy.world 135 points 6 days ago (7 children)

It's how he knows they're rigged. If they weren't he wouldn't have won.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.cafe 68 points 6 days ago (30 children)

He just assumes that both sides are rigged, and whoever rigs it best is the winner. That's why he was so pissed in 2020. He knows it was rigged, but so many voted against him that it invalidated whatever he did. He was more successful at rigging the 2024 election.

He's going to rig 2028, too. Don't be surprised if the smoke clears, and he gets more votes than the other candidates, so he has no choice but to honor the will of the people over the Constitution, and remain in office.

[–] DillDough@lemmy.zip 45 points 6 days ago

2016 as well. He even opened multiple investigations into it during his first term and the results were conclusively that the only notable instances of interference were either from or on behalf of the Republican party.

Trump did not elaborate on who would be part of the “Election Integrity Army” or how large it would be.

It's a dog whistle to the "militia" people.

You are understanding correctly.

Leading up to November 2024 elections, he said on multiple media outlets "We already have all the votes we need. The election has already been decided. It's the last election you'll ever need to vote in. Thats how good we rigged it."

Literally said it MULTIPLE times.

And now he's talking about it again, openly as being rigged.

He's saying the quiet part outloud, and nobody is outraged, because nobody is taking him at face value.

"Election Integrity Army" keeping elections fair since 1921.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 52 points 6 days ago (2 children)

If the US doesn’t have fair elections—how did Trump get elected twice? Oh right b/c they’re fair when maggots get their way, and elections are rigged when they lose. If Mango Shittler sends armies to polling stations is it fair to say……that there will be blood???

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 30 points 6 days ago (2 children)

So he admitting that he stole the election in 2024. Because he just magically won every single swing state by large margins? The same states that Musk so happen to make sure all the voting machines worked "properly".

Motherfucker spent all the time from when he lost until 2024 claiming Biden stole the election, so after he did just that he can now claim us all nuts for saying he stole this election.

Because if we ever crawl out of this fascist mess (which I highly doubt) we will learn that Harris won all the legitimate votes and the votes for Trump were is base at 30% rest were faked.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 22 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You know what annoys me the most about that thing? The Democratic leadership didn't insist on any double checking or tests to ensure that the voting wasn't fixed. They just shrugged their shoulders and assumed everything was above board.

Or worse, didn't care.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 days ago

There were a number of lawsuits at the lower levels. Like Rockland County that was suing for a recount. Unfortunately the judge said they lacked standing or some BS.

Hypocrisy or contradictions are not an obstacle for fascism, at all. Quite the opposite! So yes they want you to know they cheated, and that they outsmarted you that way, because you were too dumb to stop them, it's not something that they want to hide, it's a powermove. As in I can cheat and you can't do anything about it even if you tried.

Here is a literal quote:

"Wenn unsere Gegner sagen: Ja, wir haben Euch doch früher die […] Freiheit der Meinung zugebilligt – –, ja, Ihr uns, das ist doch kein Beweis, daß wir das Euch auch tuen sollen! […] Daß Ihr das uns gegeben habt, – das ist ja ein Beweis dafür, wie dumm Ihr seid!" - Rede vom 4. Dezember 1935, zitiert nach Helmut Heiber (Hrsg.), Goebbels-Reden, Band 1, Droste, Düsseldorf 1971,

translation: "When our opponents say: 'Yes, we did grant you the […] freedom of opinion earlier – –', well, the fact that you granted it to us is certainly no proof that we should do the same for you! […] That you gave it to us – that is precisely proof of how stupid you are!"

Illegal.

And fascism.

America was warned. America didn't listen. Now we get to do things the hard way. Maybe it'll only last 17 years like it did for Hungary.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 6 points 5 days ago

I hate that for those of you who did listen when the easy way was an option.

You need those in the right position to organise a sustained shutdown which is now the next easiest way. There’s enough in the right places but getting them to do it is the thing. That’s what’s missing; the people to lead and sort out logistics.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 55 points 6 days ago (6 children)

Why gee, that's a surprise...

Here's my prediction: the GOP will win those totally fair elections in a landslide.
Time to hit Polymarket!

How are you guys who stayed home feeling? You could have helped prevent this bullshit from happening, and you did nothing.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (4 children)

They are still insisting that they are in the right.

I say that a movement that can't be bothered to vote, or even spoil its ballot, is not credible in doing the higher order civil disobedience.

[–] MartianRecon@lemmus.org 8 points 6 days ago (4 children)

They literally expect people to fight a civil war against the Republicans, then they expect to have a seat at the table in the restructuring of the government.

They are literally the reason this shit is happening. Fuck the Idle Left. They do nothing but complain.

Let's send a "Presidential Integrity Army" to the White House. A few million should do the trick. Burn it to the ground, with the rats and roaches trapped inside. It will be worth the cost to rebuild it.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 21 points 6 days ago

Don't rebuild it. It's a symbol of oppression and warmongering.

He can't change our vote by mail status and any jack boots coming here are in for a surprise...

Election integrity here is ALREADY maintained by precinct committee persons. It's an elected position.

One of their job duties is monitoring ballot drop off locations for tampering and intimidation.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 10 points 6 days ago

He can’t change our vote by mail status

He can use that army to deter those mails from reaching their target because he sees them as suspect.

One of their job duties is monitoring ballot drop off locations for tampering and intimidation.

And if they see it happening, who's going to stop it?

[–] Reality_Suit@lemmy.world 29 points 6 days ago (1 children)

No matter what Trump does, he will always be a pedophile.

So, election interference then, eh. He knows the Rs will never win again with the shit they've already pulled, but it won't matter if you can't actually vote anymore.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago (2 children)

This is not going to end well.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They are going to purposely go to places with higher percentage of POC voters to antagonize and start something.

Anyone who says something like “and the other shoe drops” is a fucking clown, this fascist buffoon has been showing his intentions from day one. You can only hope at this point some more brave Americans with better aim can put a fucking hole in him.

How does one apply for this election integrity army job? What is the wage and how much work is there?

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 26 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Grab your gun and Punisher neck gaiter and roll up to your polling place and menace the people going in. Congrats, you are now in the Election Integrity Army.

Wages you say? are you not a patriot? Is the fear in the eyes of your fellow human beings not payment enough?
