DIABIDUS!!!!

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 47 points 1 month ago (3 children)

One of my patients almost died from acute onset pancreatitis after eating 4 pounds of fudge in one sitting, so this could be a trick question.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

That is some dedication to finishing that fudge. Holy shit

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

4 lbs... Seriously how?... I can hardly get through 1oz. It's too much sugar.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I believe he has some substance abuse issues with alcohol. A lot of alcoholics can get some wires crossed when it comes to sugary foods.

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Lots of alcohol plus 4lbs of sugar, ouch.

Wouldn't that also potentially mess up the kidneys as well?

In the long run I'm sure, but most kidney issues are a secondary symptom of cardio vascular disease and diabetes, really anything that elevates your blood pressure a bunch.

Is that a alcoholic specific thing or a addiction general thing? Such as people with predispositions for addictive behavior?

It's typically Alcohol specific, and usually when people are trying to quit. Alcohol and sugar utilize a similar dopamine pathway and alcohol metabolizes into sugar so it can develop into a parallel addiction and metabolic dependency.

Yeah that’s why one of my relatives had to switch to Diet Coke when starting AA

So, 3.9 pounds is the safe limit

Are we talking about American candy bars or European candy bars? .... because if it's in Texas, the child is going to have instant diabetes and will probably lose both their feet ... if it's in Switzerland, they'll probably break their fingers trying to snap that many Toblerone bars

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The tips of those toblerones will probably pierce their intestines

[–] JennaR8r@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The math problem simply states that Bob ate the candy. Doesn't matter if he broke his fingers in the process. He ate the candy.

[–] hraegsvelmir@ani.social 2 points 1 month ago

If Bob ate 29 Toblerone bars in one setting, I think it's safe to assume he's just chomping off each section straight from the bar.

For any young'uns out there who don't get the reference, the answer is, "diabeetus."

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not necessarily diabetes. On the short term, you only get sugar shock.

[–] prenatal_confusion@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago

Don't take away our nice ~~joke~~ diabetes!

[–] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Some of them were expired when ate, even.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 7 points 1 month ago

I still see him in the shack in Antarctica claiming to be all better now.

A long time ago I took the Army General Classification Test to help a friend who needed test subjects for some kind of psych class. Almost every arithmetic question was about cigarettes... Bob has $1.50, cigarettes cost 50 cents a pack, how many packs can Bob buy?

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

Lol, they know their audience!

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We're fine here, everything's fine. How are you?

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 3 points 1 month ago

Who is this? What is your operating number?

[–] Daedskin@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 2 points 1 month ago

naw, that's clearly John Bolton

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I got to work with that guy on set of a show. He was super cool and down to earth. Wouldn't stop preaching about diabetes but he was cool.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 4 points 1 month ago

A pool of vomit at his feet.

[–] jlow@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 month ago

I don't know but his dentist will be very rich.

[–] baahb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

I didn't eat any of MY candy bars. I still have 36. Y'all just have fewer between you now.
