That quote got a lot of attention for how crazy it was, but it's the same debate where Harris said high trade tariffs would basically be a "tax on Americans". And to their credit, the moderator also asked how Trump would accomplish one of his campaign promises to bring down prices when we would all pay more due to tariffs! Obviously, Trump just denied the reality, but you can't bring down prices on Americans while we are all paying increased prices due to tariffs! They are incompatible.
In that same debate Trump said there were abortions after birth.
He said the same thing in the first debate, but Biden had a raspy voice, so....

I can't help but hear that song.
I appreciate that this works on at least two levels:
'Checks and balances' as a phrase refers to a functioning, structured government with defined powers and processes...
And also, they are actually destroying the paychecks, the balance sheets, of all the citizens directly fired from government agencies, everyone getting fucked from the tariffs, businesses included.
