I used to panhandle... Or busk mostly I guess. I am not musically gifted but I hated asking for money for nothing so I would sing songs or tell poems for spare change.

It was mostly fine, I never made much but made enough that I could buy some food or a bus ticket. People were generally nice, but I'm a woman so YMMV.

The highlight for me was the one time a gentleman dropped a dimebag of weed in my guitar case. This was a much bigger deal back when the alternative was to ask your friend to ask his brother to ask his dealer.

We were around 17 and went to cruise Yonge St strip as was cool to do back in the day(70’s). My buddy was 6’6” and I was a round butterball. We did the strip and then buddy says umm I am almost out of gas, got any money. I am broke. He says let’s mooch some money. I mentioned we do not look very homeless. Opens his trunk and there are a number of of disgusting old work clothes. We put them on and proceeded to mooch. We made so much we half the tank with enough left over for a fast food meal. Never did it again. Felt kind of guilty but we were young and foolish.

One time I was waiting near the train station for my old man to pick me up, and a kid thought I was homeless and offered me money. Confusing for everyone. Not homeless. Just had a gross beard and thrift store clothes.

People seem to have no moral compunctions about digital panhandling under the banner of "mutual aid". I hope no one falls for it.

One time i grabbed a pan handle that had been in a 350 degree oven. It hurt.
