my daughter casually called the 90s the "late 1900s".

We're cooked

[–] ThunderQueen@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I was born in the late 90s and do this occasionally. It sounds cool and makes the right people squirm.

[–] zz31da@piefed.social 5 points 4 days ago

Way back before the turn of the century

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

The millennium with the falcon.

Alright, calm down fossil. There's less time between you and us, than there is between us and today - ergo we're all getting older here.

to startle them, start sentences with

In the late 20th century we used to...

[–] BurnedDonutHole@ani.social 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I find these memes funny. Because one day you'll wake up and find yourself where we old people are. Time really flies by quickly. So, enjoy your youthful times and make as much memories as you can.

[–] bandwidthcrisis@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Don't look up how old that clip is.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

Almost exactly 30 years old. It's happened to everyone who watched it when it first aired!

[–] chocrates@piefed.world 14 points 4 days ago

Are you back Violet?

[–] mech@feddit.org 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (4 children)

Fun fact: More time has passed between today and 1999, than between 1999 and the Second Cod War.

[–] Calfpupa@lemmy.ml 10 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

The second COD was released in 2005 so that makes sense.

[–] TehWorld@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

I can still remember the stories about when the halibut took back the mid Atlantic ridge.

[–] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Ah, 1999, the early days of the Bass wars.

Many Bass was slapped.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I would, but my stomach hurts when I do 😭

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I'm almost old enough to be an 18 year old's dad, and it's a strange feeling.

[–] did_you_find_violets@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (13 children)

it's crazy on the opposite end too cause wdym someone born in 1990 is old enough to be my dad (i'm a Feb 2008 baby). that's so recent and most of my favorite celebrities are from that era and I don't see them as old😭

[–] zout@fedia.io 6 points 5 days ago

This reasoning also means you're old enough to be a parent. Technically correct, and it happens I guess.

[–] farmgineer@nord.pub 5 points 5 days ago

I'm old enough to have a grandchild that's 18. I still am not sure how I feel about it.
