Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

During a television broadcast on Thursday, former federal special counsel Jack Smith expressed deep concern regarding the current state of American jurisprudence. Appearing on the MS NOW program hosted by Nicolle Wallace, the former prosecutor described the current political landscape as an extraordinary threat to the nation's legal foundations. He characterized the ongoing institutional shift as a unique challenge, calling it an assault "different in kind and scope to anything I've seen in my lifetime." This marked his initial public media appearance since stepping down from his federal post in January 2025.

Hear me out. Downvote me if you must.

I know the prevailing thought from the informed is “duh. We know this.” And I have been guilty of thinking this as well.

The truth is with Bannons “flood the zone” media blitz strategy we are living in a time where the obvious bears repeating. We may know, we may be frustrated that it needs to be repeated but somewhere out there someone needs to be reminded. Reason is irrelevant. The zone needs to be flooded with the same truth over and over until the ignorant can’t ignore it.

I think this needs to be the top comment on half of the posts in this community.

Excellently stated - this is an important strategy that we should be mindful of. Also, nice username.

Also, to keep getting people to better people-owned alternatives. Better open source OS'es, better social platforms, better actually independent news sources, better companies to buy from (private and unionized/coop, no stock-market mostly), better apps, better coordination and collaboration daily in person and online (Matrix and Fluxer for real time collab to get shit done day in and day out), etc etc etc

They are trying to take away peoples ownership of everything but you know what brings it back? All of us doing together. All of us reclaiming what we used to own, and owning what we have not owned yet that should be in people hands.

We the people have the power!!!! Keep doing and keep getting more people active everyone. Do yourself a favor by making yourself and us all stronger with more of us active and doing together!!!

Yeah. Another problem is the Dems always come from a defensive posture. The right says Medicare has fraud. The left has to say yes, but….

We all know there’s fraud, but it’s minimal and doesn’t mean we tear it all down.

The left absolutely needs to get the messaging straight and then get it out there.

The person that probably knows the most about Trump's egregious acts of treason, sedition, embezzlement, and child sex trafficking history is saying this.

And I don't doubt a word of it.

But when half of the country is currently suffering a cult like form mass psychosis, it's hard to find cures that are peaceful

Thanks Jack, but the people who pay attention to the news will listen to you and say "Duh, we already know this, it's blatantly obvious."

The rest of the people are either profiting off of it, don't know this but also don't care, or don't trust a word you say.
