Exactly. Got to it before me. Well done.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Admit it? There's not a single commenter here who isn't proud of the effort they put in. I feel like I came pretty close to success myself.

Here's the deal: given enough time, it WILL work! I've tried it! See, what I do is I reach my hand out toward the remote and close my eyes and stay there. Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it takes several minutes. But the remote always winds up in my hand.

Sure, it's because either my wife or one of my kids has intuited what I'm trying to do and they walk it over to me. But, hey, I'm still getting the remote to my hand regardless!

I mean... What if it works? You'd be a fool not to give a shot every now and then.

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

My guy I made myself pass out trying to go super saiyan. Of course I've tried using the force

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 2 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, but I didn't think it was force, just garden variety telekinesis.

[–] Klear@piefed.world 45 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

Also, tried?! I use the Force to open those little gates in supermarkes all the time.

[–] camembear@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 hours ago

I carry people up the stairs daily. I lift parking barriers with just a swipe. I successfully pushed a cloud out of the way. I also control the flow of water from a garden hose. My force grip is too strong.

[–] recentSlinky@lemmy.ca 18 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Oh it's you doing it? My dad lied to me saying it's electronics system. Thanks for your service :)

[–] Klear@piefed.world 8 points 12 hours ago

Dads make up the silliest things.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 8 hours ago

Stand on one hand and lift rocks with your special gift

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

I want to upvote this multiple times

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 7 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Exactly. At least every time there’s an automatic door.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

They're called forcefields, did they teach you nothing?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Automatic doors and traffic lights.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 5 points 9 hours ago

And tried to bend a spoon by convincing yourself it doesn't exist

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 9 hours ago

Duhh, of course. I was quite persistent, actually...

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 20 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Nah, there's no such thing as The Force - I used telekinesis.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Me too. It featured heavily in the science fiction pulp novels I read before Star Wars even came out. And now get off my lawn, damn kids!

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 16 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Tried ?? What do you mean tried ? Do or do not, there is no try

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 5 points 10 hours ago

And that is why they failed.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

how the fuck y'all moving objects without applying force to them?

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

It's simple. Been doing it for years. I just put my hand out reaching for the item and eventually my wife or daughter hands it to me.

[–] arschflugkoerper@feddit.org 3 points 10 hours ago

This and earth/water/fire/air bending obviously

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 3 points 10 hours ago

I keep trying and hoping eventually something will move.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 5 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You must be able to use the force for a prostate massage right?

[–] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 hours ago

Ropes, I tell you.

No wonder the Jedi order is all about "no love or pleasure" or whatever or they'd get nothing done at all...

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 7 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

After reading Hitchhiker's Guide, me and my cousin tried to fly by jumping off a (low) wall and forgetting that we were falling.

if you run fast enough horizontally you will fall but miss the ground.

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 1 points 12 hours ago

That's not flying. That's falling, with style!

[–] josephmbasile@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Oh I have the worst story about this. I was having this wonderful dream where I had telekinesis and I could do all kinds of awesome stuff. Then my alarm started going off.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I also tried using Matilda powers.

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 hours ago

Yeah, me too

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 5 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Bitch, I tried to make a ball of chi after seeing Gohan teach Videl how to do it

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 3 points 11 hours ago

I refuse to believe anyone claiming to have both seen Dragonball anything and not attempted a Kamehameha

[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 5 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I did it today, the remote was too far away, so no harm in trying to see if I've accessed the force.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)
[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 3 points 11 hours ago

Nah, but I did pass out, so that might be something.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

I’ve found I can only do it to automatic doors.

[–] sidebro@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago

Double sliding doors are fun

The remote is too far

[–] username_1@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 13 hours ago

We just didn't want to disappoint D.Wader with our lack of faith.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 hours ago

I tried to move things using my mind. It was before I saw Star Wars though, but the idea was there.

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 1 points 12 hours ago

Not the force, but after a long Bioshock session I felt like I should be able to get something from across the room with telekinesis.
