What have I missed? Why should someone regret his vaccination in his opinion? From when is this?

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

There's a new push from the right with the whole trial with Fauci that everything he said was a lie and that the vaccine didn't actually work, social distancing didn't actually work, and masks didn't actually work because some dipshit American politician made something up and the right ran with it.

So now the right has their weekly walking papers of "We were right all along!" because why have facts and evidence and you can have Rand Paul of all people invent a false narrative and the sheep follow right along with it.

Let's ignore all the other countries who leaned into the vaccine and social distancing that didn't lose a fraction of their population compared to America to Covid. Let's also completely ignore the fact that Trump of all people was at the forefront of Operation Warp Speed to accelerate funding and research for mRNA vaccines.

But no one has ever accused Americans of being smart.

Wait, Fauci's on trial? What the actual fuck is wrong with this country, when we're prosecuting doctors for simply wanting people to be healthy and safe? Even if the masks didn't work, exactly what harm is there in wearing one anyway?

OK after reading the replies and in retrospect: that was a stupid question looking for a reason for an antivaxer posting shit.

Either this is very old, or it's in reference to the recent Fauci entrapment hearing where a bunch of the low intelligence senators did stuff like claim the 'vaccine injured' were committing mass suicide

Big fuck you to the trend of taking screenshots of social media posts so they forever have the very useful timestamp of "23 hours before this screenshot was taken". Though also an honorable mention to all the apps and sites that only display a relative timestamp.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I despise interfaces that try to be "friendly" by showing relative times. It's not helpful. It's counter productive. If you tell me it was at 08:45 I can look at what time it is now and fucking figure it out. Not so if you say "20 minutes ago"

And then some of them have fucking javascript to update the text. Fucking insanity.

Sometimes I think we should get rid of 3/4ths of the "product people", but then wi the just engineering websites would just be like plain text and the occasional still photo. Which, honestly, sounds okay.

Right, there is space for both in fact. At least put the date next to it.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Agree. The sleuth in me wants to say “It’s Threads, so we at least know it’s no older than July 2023,” but an actual date is more useful.

Its very funny but the "info" bubbles we have means that people stuck in that cult really think they got everything the want to believe proven right periodically and then think everyone who argued with them would reasonably feel stupid.

They werent right and no one else sees the fake news.

Its a tradegy for sure, but also very funny

Whenever I feel bad about EU politics I just need to take a peek at the US to feel better

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Careful, we do that in Canada and it makes it very hard to have a conversation when your “centrist”(very conservative) party does a bunch of truly awful shit and half the country pulls “but it’s better than Trump!” put of their ass instead of actually doing anything meaningful.

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

It is better than Trump, but do they think we started with him? He's the product of decades of steady slide into disinformation, fascism, anti-intellectualism, prejudice - the list goes on. Trump should be a warning to democracies of what happens when these things go unchecked.

Your governments are looking at the US and taking notes.

The Fauci witch-hunt has truly reinvigorated these fucking morons.

They'll keep believing the vaccine killed millions and millions of people, like the lunatics they are, and keep voting Trump (because of course the overwhelming majority of them are Trumptards) even though everything he touches turns to shit.
