Why does anyone think there are still chances left?
edit: to clarify, I mean there are no more chances to "halt the erosion of US democracy"--it done eroded already. We're starting over now. The only thing we don't know yet is whether the coming elections will be free and fair. If they are, we can start rebuilding with a new movement to replace the old failed parties. If not, other steps will wind up being taken, one way or another.
Fully believe Trump will send ice and militias out to attack polling stations or something like this.
Voters do. Democrats don't. This is a voter issue at this point and framing it like a political party is gonna come save you is why people are apathetic.

Basically this is a typical chudlib. They think they are actually on the right side of history, because they support "democracies" like Israel, and the only worthy cause they stand up for is the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. But when it comes to Palestinans, they're quiet.
They claim to hate dictators and dictatorships, and believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong or immoral with NATO and the western world hegemony. That's why they have a blinding hatred for China, and think it's very brave of them to be anti China.

Aside from excellent trending in rights, the economy, safety, education, and jobs, compared to the only alternative, well, nothing at all.
Nothing at all, but the progressives, the Democratic socialists, and the greens and everyone else who is fighting tooth and nail in the trenches against the far right extremists and chuds are giving it their all
And the Democrats are not going to let them win. At best they'll Co opt the progressives until they're ineffective, and at worst, they'll extinguish the progressives' flames.
I'm appalled at how people still think voting for the Dems is an option.

With the MAGA movement, you had massive capital backing the propaganda. And if im not mistaken, the OG Republicans didn't really fight against Trump.
With progressives within the Democrat party structure, you're fighting on multiple fronts -- against the party itself along with anyone interested in maintaining the status quo.
MAGA didn't go against the grain, they slid with the direction of the Overton window, albeit faster than what some were comfortable with. Going progressive is, well, the opposite of that.
Don't forget to vote BLUE no matter WHO! UNLESS the Blue PROMISES to make your Life BETTER then DONT VOTE AT ALL!

that... seems unlikely to me. I mean, he's not popular, but his approval ratings aren't significantly worse than the last time he was president.
If we can slip both house and senate this time, the worst case will hopefully be to obstruct all his BS for 2 more years and leave him a lame duck. If we assume Novemeber goes smoothly (it won't, but how bad it gets will depend on so many factors).

well, my info was horribly wrong. I thought I might have confused one of the failed attempts at impeachment from the first term, but it wasn't that either.

Bad for these hyerpartisans times, yes. But this wasn't the norm, even as far back as 15 years ago.
But it's part of why GOP congress is still spineless. A lot of their constituents still think Trump is doing a "good job". Or at least that's what they say out loud.
It would help if they publicly said they will remove him and his criminals from the government. I don't wanna hear anything about it being a time for healing and reaching across the isle.
Democrats will likely win but then they'll remember who holds their purse and the billionaire Epstein-class will tighten their grip on us plebs even more.
