Inventing something to eat again
Longish but fun read by an anarchist acquaintance about doing the dishes:

Regular dishes are bad enough, huh
Me when I have to clean the cum bowl 😔
Laundry is the other sysiphisian task. Even if you completely catch up on laundry, when you look down, boom you're wearing MORE laundry.
A dishwasher helps a lot.
Yeah like, ya'll don't have a dishwasher?
"We do, but we have kids."
Ok, well that's on you then. But hey, eventually you can teach them to rinse their own and put them in the washer.
Dishwashers aren't as common outside the US. But you don't really need to rinse 98% of what you put in there. You can learn how to load and operate the machine in a way that foregoes pre rinse.
Yeah but if you leave gunk on all the time you gotta clean the strainer at the bottom of the washer more frequently. Gotta at least get the solids off.
I've found a way around that. Don't use dishes. Edit: after reading Doc_Crankenstein's comment I realize what I really do is have one fork, one spoon, one knife, one bowl, and one cup, and habitually clean them immediately after use so I don't even notice the chore, it's as automatic as eating. Never have a dirty dish.
Get a mini instant pot. Cook your meal in there, then eat out of the pot, wash the pot and spoon. Done!
I don't know but.. Isn't cleaning the bathroom and the toilets the endboss?
The key to this is reducing the total amount of dishes owned and getting into a good habit of washing immediately after use.
Washing immediately takes far less effort than waiting for dishes to pile up, but even if they did, reducing the total dishes meant that the pile never got to the insurmountable mountain of dishes.
Unfortunately I lost the job and had to move, so that entire system is bunked cause roommates insist on having more dishes than an average restaurant.
Isn't the very definition of a household chore that it's a recurring task related to cleaning or preparing things at home?
It's almost funny how I procrastinated on getting a dishwasher! I had the "idea" in 1999.
But then, I could not get it into a clear sequence of steps. It was always mind-chaos like: Really need a dishwasher, can I even set it up here, how about the washing machine, y-split for water or keep switching, where would I put it, can I do it or do I need someone to set it up, maybe order from a service that sets it up for you, they don't to complex things though, just attach the water ...
Eventually 23 years (!) after this got a simple one where you just pour water in, no setup required. When that one broke, I had meds and could easily just order a regular one, break down the steps to install it (wasn't even easy, the professionals failed, but step by step), and execute them one by one over a few days.
It doesn't solve all problems, but it is so much less mental effort now ...
