I remember when I first started using Zip drives (the model before these huge 1gb Jazz) with these 100mega 'floppy' drives I felt like I could never run out of disk space ever again :)

I think it was using was using SCSI when I started using it, on the Mac.

    We used to use these for our nightly database backups. Where the night guy would take home the latest copy for offsite backup and one of our day people would take home a copy. The problem was that they would start doing this clicking thing and at that point the disc was toast, and we only had one drive so if the office burned up then we would have to buy a new drive to read the backup discs. Fun times in the 90s

    It was better than padded cases for physical harddrive BU's. Opps dropped the case and thats a head crash, NO BACKUP FOR YOU! (soup n*zi ref)

    We ended up still using sneaker redundancy BU off site and got a fireproof gun safe for an onsite BU to prevent the head crashes. Then we thought we were saved by Jaz... Riiiiiight, like you said the "90's"

    Seeing that Amazon just lost a shit ton of data the other day in the Middle East in the "cloud" I can see physical BU's becoming a thing again. For me it never stopped for critical data, also drives are so cheap compared to back then I have BU's of BU's.

    Oh I like that, I love the flow. Always been a fan of idk what style it is but its the old school. Reminds me of Pharcyde, thanks for the link. Now for the deep dive.
