I know your age range just from the master of disguise reference

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Saw that shit in theatres. As well as Baby Geniuses 2 and Meet the Spartans.

[–] Xenny@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

You're my exact age 31. And 32 in a few months

Why limit it to the US? Dolomedes is international.

Also yes I will sleep tight, knowing these adorable and accomplished spiders are out there living their best lives.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 13 hours ago

there's the slight alleviating factor of most people not living in lakes

[–] remon@ani.social 28 points 23 hours ago

Not entirely accurate, there are some save zones in North- an West Alaska.

Red is land, white represents where the spiders are.

[–] Pyro@programming.dev 12 points 16 hours ago

We've lost Canada and Mexico to the spiders already...

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 1 points 13 hours ago

Obviously this blue part here is the land...

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

But how do they fish on land?

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Don't read so well, do ya?

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago

That would be very disheartening if I lived in America

[–] JacksonLamb@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

They are in many countries. But they are not scary.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

[–] Hoimo@ani.social 80 points 1 day ago (3 children)

[–] BubbaGumpsBackLumps@lemmy.world 18 points 22 hours ago

"Laughs in australian"

[–] GlitchyDigiBun@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Let's see how strong they are under a blanket of napalm.

“This silk used to lift the prey, it’s very strong, comparable to steel, but it is as elastic as the normal silk you would use to make clothes”

That’s crazy, and awesome.

[–] Geodad@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (11 children)

That's gotta be in Australia...

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nope, southern US. Found in a local group.

[–] JacksonLamb@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

Great find! There are various members of Dolomedes in other countries. Some specialise in rivers, other lakes.

[–] remon@ani.social 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nope, that's a north American species.

[–] Geodad@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

That's it, I'm petitioning the Army to let me have my M203 back.
