I feel like if there is a very specific topic that one might be interested in (like modding, a specific work of fiction, ETC), there should be a community for it, even if only one person will interact with it.

I’d like to see a community for sharing creative stuff like photos, art, writing, etc

I’d also like to see a community for AI discussion, resources, and projects.

If we wanna get real niche a furry/kemonomimi community would be dope

Edit: I created a couple communities:

https://lemmygrad.ml/c/Sixtigers

https://lemmygrad.ml/c/Transhumanism

  • I would definitely enjoy a wider range of topics to engage with, especially as I am trying not to look at reddit any more as it's such a stressful place filled with awful people.

i thought about making a community where people can just blurt out a liberal/capitalist statement and people debunk it in the comments? i feel like a lot of us use asklemmygrad for that reason when we really just want an idea debunked

I am very interested in a TTRPG community in Lemmygrad.

I would love an analogue of r/coybig but I'd be the only one posting to it. It's the only subreddit that I get dragged back to: when Ireland are playing games. Even with all the obvious Zionists visiting to shit on calls for a boycott of the Israel game and the clear take over of r/Ireland by Zionists won't get that community, I've been part of for almost 15 yrs, to leave reddit.

Apparently some the Israeli fans were making racist chants at one of our non-white strikers.

One of the Irish supporters put a video of it up on twatter and their account was permabanned. Reddit has been doing similar. Normally if something like that happened in a football match the ref would stop the match to talk to the players and managers; security would identify the perpetrators and throw them out; and it would be reported in post match media.

    Crickets.

I think there are actually too many (dead) communities. I remember a while back the admins announced they'd do a purge, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

There's also the question of whether making the community here, with few users and lots of federation blocks, is better or worse than making it on lemmy.ml. A community about Leftist Aesthetics makes a lot of sense, but not so much for a community about Competitive StarCraft Brood War.

I have to agree with this. Every time some niche thing pops up it dies because... It's niche. I'm not gonna make a com where I am the only poster because we have like 10k people on this site. Meanwhile a lot of my hobby sites on reddit are like, half dead anyway, and reddit has millions of users. It takes huge numbers of ppl to really develop hobby subs. We just don't have those numbers, nor do we have the engagement or frequency from the users we DO have. The most engaging posts we have get maybe a few dozen comments while most don't even get to double digits.

Add to this, people come here for leftist news and discourse. That why none of these niche subs would ever really take off. I don't come here to see pictures of people's cats or what the cooked for dinner. Add to this, we also know, as leftists, not to share a lot of personal details online. Talking about hobbies and such, sharing pictures, etc. is just opening yourself up to being doxxed by some feds, and we have feds all over, because this is a leftist forum. lol

We've only got one post in straight edge. Some other communities are quite dead aswell.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I filter my feed by local and scroll through everything on the instance. Go ahead and make a new community or just post in freechat or genzedong or the weekly discussion megathread. We're not active enough for topic management to be an issue imo

Yes. There are a bunch of subreddits that I frequent that don't really have a lemmygrad version.

I wouldn’t mind, but I also browse by local first to see what’s going on here in ‘grad before browsing by all to see what .ml, the Hexbears, and the libs are up to.

I'd love a place to pass a virtual joint from time to time. My wife and I found the perfect smoking spot two days ago. There's no place to post the pics.

i mean, a communist link aggregator with social media characteristics is kinda niche per se, but there's lots of niche ideas here: "linux for leftists", "political catgirls", "genzedong".

    modding

well, communist mods for games sounds like a golden idea
