"Gowron" may just be a common Klingon "bloke name" like "Colin" or "Dave".

apart from what the other comment said, yes, there is a lot more of him in ds9. and ds9 is one of the best treks, so if you haven't seen it, i almost envy you the chance to see it for the first time. except for the unfortunate question of technical quality, which really is not up to today's standards.
