"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires" - John Steinbeck

They do want to serve him, but they're stuck in that 1990's head-space where you can walk into a company, stab a few people in the back, stay late every day and become a VP in a decade. They have no idea that the wealth/power has been vacuumed up to the point that you can't just sycophant your way to the top.

Because the rich own the government via the two party circus.

Me and my buddy were recently talking about why conservatives are always voting against theirs best interests and we kept circling back to the same old responses we've heard for years. It just wasn't satisfying.

We started pivoting our discussion. As dumb as they are politically, we are still neighbors. We all are struggling to get by and live happy lives. So why do they feel so strongly about limited government and deregulation? Don't they see that these things are hurting them just as much as it does everyone else?

And then we thought, what if they know all this deregulation and limited government do not help them out. In a country that rewards hyper individualism, conservatives see social safety nets as a way to let anyone get ahead.

    Even ahead of themselves.

Someone else could become a billionaire if they can be lifted up by social welfare. These people idolized the ultra wealthy, want to be just like them and be rich too. If we help lift up everyone, that means their neighbors are just as close to reaching that dream as the themselves. And that just can't be allow.

In our US culture, it's all about getting to top and winning. Socialism isn't winning it's always a tie.

As much as laws and amendments can force change, I will always believe that we need to shift how our culture thinks about our neighbors. We need to relearn empathy in this country and when we stop worrying about "me me me", everyone will actually start agreeing that socialism deserves a seat at the table.

I've been gotten in more arguments on mainstream social media than I would have liked, so I am genuinely surprised that there are people who do tell you "You're jealous because you're not rich." For a demographic that loves to call others beta, they sure are beta and love to be subservient getting breadcrumbs. It's always projection.

If you work hard enough, some day you'll be able to hunt poor people for sport too!

They already do this. They do it right now.

Haiti, Somalia, the former Yugoslavia, Yemen, and many other places around the world in a state of war are used for sport by those able to pay for it, they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to "ride along" and take part in it. Some charge per head.

There are many mercenary groups making big money, and they won't turn down tourists.

We never know anything about it until long after the fact. How much reporting do you get from inside Somalia? Nobody keeps track of anything, there's no protection other than militias and they can be part of the problem.

The people have no air force or any kind of protection in much of the country. These nations are also used to get rid of all sorts of waste, nuclear waste and biological hazards are dumped right off of their coast every day. The mercenaries protect the ships (nobody goes unarmed).

"Johnson, you've been putting a lot of hustle in to hit these Q3 sales targets and well, we've noticed - myself and the other wealthy. What do you say you join us all tonight as my guest, in my home, to discuss your bright future. We'll be drowning puppies around 8PM to warm up. See you then?"

It’s the free market, man. The pay-per-view revenue will contribute to so much job creation, and that’s not to mention the new human meat market this will kick start. Why do you want to stifle creativity? You just don’t understand the genius of it and you’re salty you weren’t smart enough to think of it first.

As long as they play this song before the hunt begins, I'd still be pissed but at least I'd die laughing.
