Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of their own actions

When a data center goes up in smoke, it's sort of moving to the cloud isn't it?

During this digital collapse, maybe the surveilance state also loose some control.

Time to rise up against your opressors maybe.

  • The problem with bulk collection is that the only reasonable way to do it is distributed collection and storage. The interception boxes are colocated in the local ISP offices and a lot of the data tends (at least in leaked systems) to get stored there not in centralized DCs.

Seems pretty typical of the Russian mindset, no?

They escalate, threaten nuclear armageddon if the Ukrainians retaliate, the Ukrainians retaliate, and the Russians get caught with their pants down.

I’m not sure if the (obvious) blowback of Russia’s escalatory moves is being measured into their decisions: they seem to be caught off-guard every single time this happens.

Which is worrying because it demonstrates a lack of strategic and tactical insight that can only lead to more escalation. The Ukrainians are right in this respect: Russia will only stop, if it is forced to stop.
