So what, doesn’t matter, vote like your life depends on it!

It does!

No one said not to. Why is this always a comment. Is it a bot thing.

    It’s very simple.

-Potential voters read an article that says there is a lot of early voting.

-They consciously or subconsciously associate the increase in voting with higher participation from their side

-They conclude that this thing is on lock and stay home

I am a little surprised that needs explaining but if the worst that comes of making the comment is annoying you, no offense but I’ll live.

So someone is always just out trying to counter that potential sentiment?

Why wouldn't an article like this make people want to vote more, incase their preferred candidate might be losing?

You don't have to treat me like I'm stupid with the "I'm surprised you're so dumb" last paragraph. Not everyone is out calculating and thinking about how to best manipulate the public. I'm just tired of seeing bot like comments that don't really make sense and I asked, my fucking bad. I promise in the future I will think twice before commenting or asking shit on lemmy ever again. Its dead here as it is.

It’s just weird and off putting to see someone grouchy about exhortations to vote. I don’t think you’re dumb, and maybe you genuinely are just cranky about this type of comment, but it’s a weird place to put your energy.

It's a democracy thing. Democracy works when people ignore the polls and actually vote.

What about seeing this article says, "do not vote," to you. Why would that even cross anyone's mind.

So it's just impossible for you to answer and you're going to be mean about it and make a joke of me? Cool, so maybe it is a bot thing.

Historically, Republicans tend to perform poorly when more people vote. So, it's is only natural for some people to think, "it looks like this one is in the bag, there is no need for me to vote. I'll sit this one out."

I apologize for being mean. I'm just sick of people suggesting that voting doesn't matter or can't make a difference. Ours is not a perfect system but it is the best we have at the moment and if voting didn't matter the Coservative assholes wouldn't be trying to make Democracy as difficult as possible.

Maybe. or you're into the stuff they say even though it doesn't really make sense in the context at all.

I can assure you that I am not into the stuff they say.

Or maybe I am since I'm really not sure what you're talking about.

I meant like maybe you're okay with the message, so you don't view it critically.

I'm okay with it too, but it is weird that there's always at least one comment on every post about polls or the election all social media that out of no where says, "don't not vote because of this," when there was not any indication that anyone was going to see the title of the article and say "fuck it, I'm not voting now."
