And the other comment: Police procedurals
it’s all just copaganda at this point
Even Law & Order, which exists within a fantasy timeline where there's actual accountability
Anything with a laugh track 🚽
I’d count “punched up” live audience shows for this category.
Early reality TV was fine - whatever that has steamrolled into these day is an abomination.
It can be funny as like a case study in emotional manipulation by producers.
And then you realise people actually are gullible enough not to see through it and it's not funny anymore.
Yeah current reality is very unreal. Never been a fan myself but at least early stuff had some true trash at its heart instead of the probably scripted junk and attention removed now.
Early reality TV gave us greats like our secretary of transportation.
Mine are, and I'll put them in two separate comments: Superheroes.
Invincible?
Of no interest to me
Fair enough. I think it subverts the genre tropes enough to keep it interesting. More so than The Boys for example.
Plus I still get plenty revved up over a good action sequence featuring an indie band I like, like Amyl & The Sniffers (whom it seems Black Mirror just discovered as well)
