"Guided by humanitarian considerations, today from 18:00 00:00 from Sunday to Monday, the Russian side declares an Easter truce. I order that all military actions be stopped for this period."

Fuck this guy and his 'humanitarian considerations' 3 years after invading his neighour, killing its people and stealing its childen - he finally deigns to give a whole 2 days reprieve (likely to be broken) because he's finally felt a teeney bit of pressure from t'old Donald.

He used "humanitarian truces" to trick and kill Ukrainians before.

The only reason why he does it is because he sees it as an occasion to gain an advantage somehow.

No-one can ever trust Putin ever again.

translation: "don't shoot! we need to resupply"

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 49 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Translation: “we’re dangerously low on supplies in a bunch of areas and we need to rush some logistics in without Ukraine blowing them up”

I genuinely do hope Zelenskyy completely ignores this unilaterally-declared truce

I’m sure they have ammo, it’s just an attempt to look humane. Posturing. Breaks are a good thing though, and as long as they don’t use that opportunity to resupply or gain territory as you have suggested, which I agree would be the likely outcome if accepted.

Narrator: "They didn't stop the hostilities. In fact, they started a major offensive."

How many hours until Russia blame Ukraine for breaking the truce without providing any proof?

[–] monomon@programming.dev 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Reportedly they are already attacking Kherson and elsewhere.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yup, that was quick. Could've guessed it was a sham.
