An errand isn't that different from a walk, from their point of view. My dog would usually come with me and wait in the car when the weather wasn't too warm for that.
I have cameras monitoring my dog when I am away. He is singing the song of loneliness for like ten minutes every time I leave, then he gets back to his usual habits. No signs of stress or anxiety.
Every time we go out together we have fun. I think he is actually singing the song of how unfair it is that I'm leaving to have fun and him having to stay at home.
Fyi: they can approximate your arrival home by the deterioration of your scent. They become concerned when you're late.
Mine is clingy, he becomes concerned when I leave the room.
He also is concerned when I fart really loudly. Afterwards I’m sometimes concerned when he gives me that WTF dude look
