And their most important holiday is the only time they use proper date formatting. 4th of July.

5th of Vodka? What month is vodka?

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago

Every month besides May. When we drink tequila.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 1 points 3 months ago

Wrong, that's just formal vs casual tone in English.

Proper date formatting is specified in ISO 8601 and there are no acceptable alternatives.

And to people who object with
"But I don't want to put the year first"
Try using your tears as extra ink

The US does use the metric system: an inch is defined as being 2.54 cm. Now it's a metric unit.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Give em 2.54 cm and they'll take 1.62 km.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

See, the saying just doesn't work in metric. "Give an inch, and they'll take a foot. Pretty soon you don't have a leg to stand on."

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Oof, yeah, I butchered that. So what would the metric unit for leg be?

i don't know, I wrote the word "microsmoot" into a vifeo script the other day though.

I wish! Rail.

Even NASA uses metric for all their stuff.

[–] mdd@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Since it mentioned grams I assumed it was cocaine.

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Weed is measured in grams as well. For instance, an eighth is 3.5g. Most drugs in the US are measured in grams, with the exception of those that come from illicit pill houses. There, you're paying by the pill and getting what you get.

In California cannabis is usually sold as ounces or fractions of an ounce.

I've worked in the business previously. Back of house always worked with grams but the customer was usually presented with oz.

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Right. So the fraction of an ounce is in grams. We're saying the same thing.

[–] mdd@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Basically. When I go to the dispensary the flower is listed as eighth, quarter, or ounce. Everything else is in grams.

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ok? You're paying by the gram regardless of the terminology on the display. If you buy a family size bag of chips, it isn't being weighed in "family sizes," it is still sold by US ounces.

[–] mdd@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

As I said in the beginning, this is what I thought of.

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

In Arizona, cannabis is usually sold as grams because almost everybody buys concentrates now. I still see the occasional blunt but it's not as common as it was before legalization. Everybody moved onto to carts and dabs.
