It's no longer a question of what if fascism comes to the USA. The question now is, what do we do to defeat fascism?

Ah yes, reminds me of the “free speech zones” during the protests under W during the invasion of Iraq. Funny how fickle that pesky first amendment can be. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_speech_zone

They tried to do these at the ice facility in chicago too, not sure if it got fully implemented or not though.

They demanded free speech cages in Portland too, but the city refused.

we're going to need more poster board

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Poster board is so expensive though. Who will fund buying it?

[–] syreus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I wonder if that Soros guy give poster board grants.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have a feeling, that poster board alone probably isn't gonna cut it.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Paper cuts fucking hurt

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

If someone were to drop a pallet of posterboards on those guys Looney Tunes style I should hope it doesn't whistle as usual on the way down.

At least this dude had his badge out and gave his name and number.

[–] alquicksilver@lemmy.world 51 points 1 week ago

I have serious doubts that his badge number is 4567. It also seemed like he had to check what his name was (looked down at his vest and paused), so who knows if he was honest about that, too.

When I worked at a commercial alarm company as a monitor, we were told to only give out an operator number and not a name when we dealt with any form of law enforcement on the phone. The reason was that if they subpoenaed “operator 29,” one of our designated people would go in and read off our notes. Remember: this was just for an alarm company. The government’s own stormtrooper division has a lot more incentive to provide bullshit credentials.

The Constitution CAN be Ignored in SOME Cases! But in OTHER Cases, like SHOOTING UP A BUNCH OF 6 YEAR OLDS, its is VERY CLEARY it MUST be Protected!

When he says “when this is over I can show you all the walls”, is that a threat to arrest them?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 27 points 1 week ago

I thought he said "all the laws"

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Until these dudes are laughed at and the crowd gangs up on them with impunity they will keep acting like this. Sorry fellas, its time to nut up or shut up since we couldn't so the only winning move in NOT FUCKING ELECTING A BRAZEN FASCIST.

It's not like the Trump regime invented the term "free speech zone"

[–] PostaL@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I keep seeing people asking cops like this for badge numbers. Why?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 16 points 1 week ago

Requesting officer information is a vital step in protecting your rights and promoting transparency in police interactions. This information can be useful in various ways, such as:

  • Filing a complaint or reporting misconduct
  • Seeking legal counsel or advice
  • Requesting police reports or documentation
  • Ensuring officer accountability and transparency

you may be fine with some anonymous fascism but I want the badge # and name so when I sue, I know who the fuck to go after.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

It's so a complaint can be filed against the officer.

One day someone gonna shout “get him” and that’ll be that.

There’s way more of us than them.

This is insane.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Fine. Then exercise the second amendment.
