Lying in bed, being angry.

I am terrible at coping.

Totally get that feeling, I used to get super anxious and write insane stuff in my notes😅; but the CBTI and ACT things really worked quite well and even if they dont completely fix sleep they do make ur life less miserable because u learn to be like “eh its fine” instead of being anxious all day, pretty good self help i found it to be

I take 3 times the healthy dose of excedrin to stop the inevitable migraine or at least make it smaller (cope) and i endeavor to not blink, as blinking makes not having slept much worse. Not sure i can explain why tho.

Sorry abt that :( , i think the lack of sleep probably gets more troublesome as you get older and start dealing with other issues..

Nighttime, like right now, I’ve given up on bed for now. I go enjoy the night a little and go for a drive. If I don’t drive maybe journal or work on art on the iPad for a bit. The key is for me to leave my bed, and when I go back to it it’s like being fresh into bed and I might catch the sleep wave.

I also consider past 3am struggles to be in the range of getting as high as I can in cannabis til I get eepy and go to sleep.

Oh and daytime sucks typically. Nap where I can if possible. Cancel my mental to dos and recalibrate based on my energy levels. I’ll typically just have a day and will forget a bit that I hadn’t slept. Later in the day and evening it becomes very apparent I haven’t slept and that’s all I really want by then.

Yupss, i also in these situations often just do smthng art related or just listen to songs, they r soothing, i actually like reading books but these days i somehow am unable to find something i might like lol

Sorry :( hope it gets better for u someday, migraine seems to be a common side effect I suppose

An APAP has made a big difference in my sleep, but there's still days where I suck at being unconscious. Next day is caffeine, naps, and grace.

"smtms" really hurts my brain lol

Turning off all screens an hour before bed is a good start.

Drink something warm. Crank one out. Count to 100.

Is there any light entering your room? A sleep mask is great for that. One less sense to distract you.

It's amazing how often this series is relevant even all these years later.

"smth" is my least favorite of the bunch. I always read it as the acronym "shaking my tiny head"

Haha pardon me😅 i personally picked up these habits when texting as fast as possible hehe

And yeah light and sound thing messes u up, the thing is i live in a noisy place but in summers the fan kinda numbs it out, however winters are coming and no fan so i just keep waking up even if i do fall asleep amidsr all that noise, i found and ordered a random pair of earplugs online that might help, i dont understand how ppl arnd me sleep thru all light nd noise😅

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Hahaha I meant no offense, I just kept reading it as "symptom"

Using a sleep tracker really helped me. Some days are bad but I always know better sleep days will come. I have the data to prove it. That helps me drag through the bag days. Before that, the fear of sleeplessness was always worse than the sleeplessness itself.

Yeah exactly, thats what i used to fall victim too, much better to just get out of bed and not make a big deal abt it

This actually works to reduce the perceived impact of missed sleep to a degree for me (you can’t just stop sleeping and do this instead, and it’s definitely not healthy or doing the same thing as sleep for your brain but it works for the occasional lost night or lost hours of sleep), but it’s annoying.

I lie down in a comfortable position, keep my eyes shut all night, and just daydream/meditate/think (not ruminating or worrying or anything like that, just calm thoughts- I play rain sounds and think about being a forest frog, dozing under a leaf and aware that my predators are all avoiding the rain and inactive. It works for me, but I suspect others have different calming scenarios they like to think through) for eight hours. It can be boring and difficult to make yourself do, but I’m more alert, don’t get a migraine, have a normal appetite, and am not struggling to keep from falling asleep the next day

As in what am I doing during the night when I'm not sleeping? Listen to scary stories or chuckling at youtube conspiracy videos while I scroll through lemmy and the other app who shall not be named.

If you're asking what I'm doing the day after not sleeping, microdosing caffeine and light exercise to try to stay awake and sleep the following night. Until the vicious cycle starts again.

Conspiracy theories are a pretty cool thing to actually delve into in these situations lol, i find them very fun and intriguing

[–] TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Most of them are interesting enough to keep my mind from wandering but I also don't take them seriously enough that they would keep me awake if I was able to fall asleep

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I do not think they were asking either of those questions lol
