My ex and I would laugh when our toddlers bumped and fell down. Not at them, with them. They looked instantly to see if there's an issue, "HA! You're OK! Keep going!"
When my daughter was toddling about her great-grandma's living room and would bump her butt, two generations of women would jump to her aid. My ex would be like, "It's OK! You're fine!"
Figured that out as a child when my 5-yo neighbor fell off my swing. He was stunned, looked at me as to what to do, tears incoming, "Come on! Let's try again!" And he bounced right up and kept playing. (I was mainly worried he'd scream and I'd get in trouble, hence my reaction.)
