Bolt is Estonian. Their app lets you order and pay for taxis, e-bikes and probably scooters as well. I use them regularly.

Sorry, that was autocorrect. Fixed now

And I agree. If you have to, for some reason, book a taxi in a European city, you will often get it sooner with Bolt than Uber (my experience from Poland). It is partially because Bolt gives more to the drivers, and they have both apps. It has scooters and Bolt Food. It is available in many places outside of Europe, but unfortunately not Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.

In order to follow your statement, I'll have install and create an account, just to have it deleted? I'd rather just never register with them.

what happened? what is the alternative?

[โ€“] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Taxis? You know, the regulated alternative that's not in the process of doing a bait and switch by selling services at a loss until competition dies and then increase the prices.

The problem with traditional taxis is that after booking them, you have no indication of when they will show up and along the way, you mostly have no information about the cost. Same thing if you get a taxi on the street without pre booking. You have no idea of the resulting price.

Depends on where you are. In Australia most taxi companies have an app that works like uber. Shows you the route and a fixed price. And when a driver picks up your fare, it'll show you where they are.

Taxi's are pretty shite tbh even with the app :\

Do the taxi's have something like Uber Green:

Haha honestly I have no idea. I live near a train station so not a lot of opportunity to catch either taxis or uber..

Here in Germany there's a site that let's you calculate estimated cost. Depends on the course taken and, of course, will be more reliable the longer the trip is. But still. I also once had a deal with one driver for a flatrate for trips.

Sure they're disgustingly expensive here, but fuck UBER. More and more of those show up here. And when they managed to fuck taxis outta existence, the prices will rise.

Must delete?

I'm not much into must do, this or that. Thx.

Or if we are to tell people what they should do: why not trash the phone itself? Uber is but one minor symptom of much deeper issues, all related to phone usage and ownership. Get rid of the main cause, not of a symptom ;)

Are you fat? Sew your mouth shut ;)

I am very smart btw

This line of reasoning just leads to inaction. You will always find bigger problems to be tackled. We typically start from small actions, and eventually build up momentum and goodwill for bigger changes.

[โ€“] Libb@jlai.lu 1 points 4 hours ago

My main point (the second one was kind of ironic, something online don't play nice with alas I tend to forget about that) is still that it should be to anyone to decide what they should and should not do ;)
