My boomer mum is like this.

She keeps saying I should reverse what I've done so far because it's making my life more inconvenient and stressful.

I'm not listening to her obviously, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having to deal with this bollocks.

Hmm, it feels like there is more to the story. Yes, the inconveniences and someonsticles are expected. Otherwise it would be a boycot. But I'm inclined to give your mum benefits of the doubt, and wonder how much it affect you'd day-to-day life and your mental health. It's OK to take a step beck and reevaluate where you take the hits.

Boycott is like diet, the best one is one that you can fallow trought. You droping just some key US products continously would be more effective than going 100% cold turkey and burn down. If you change only the "easy wins" it'll still be impactful.

Take care of yourself, so you'll be able to take care od others.

USA? I'm from the UK though.

Oh sorry, I missed that.

What exactly does make it more inconvenient and stressful?

Idk, my mum says it's making life more inconvenient, but it stresses me out sometimes due to why this boycott happening in the first place paired with my CPTSD.

Also since I live rurally atm it's harder as there's fewer options (E.G. Boots being the only chemist in the town centre, but is US owned), unless I take a 25 minute train ride into the nearest city.

it’s making life more inconvenient

Just because something makes your life more convenient, doesn't mean it's better or healthier for you. Otherwise McDonald's would be the healthiest in the world.

My own experience is this: sure, it's inconvenient to change things and you have to change your mind about a lot of stuff. But as soon as you get a grip on it, life starts to improve rapidly. Don't forget that most American hyper-capitalist corporations don't want to make your life better. They want to optimize profits. That means they'll do everything to achieve that goal, even if it's bad for you. And most companies are like that, unfortunately. So consuming less should be seen as something great not a punishment.

it stresses me out sometimes due to why this boycott happening in the first place.

Not the boycott but the news is the problem. Take a step back. Consume less news. It's not good for our psychological health to consume that shit all the time. You can still support the movement without constantly consuming news. Go outside, connect with people and organize.

Maybe you can get some of the stuff online?

I 1000% agree with this. The only thing I can do is just ignore her comments. We do have a 30+ age gap, so I can say it's a generation thing lol

I would like to, but most of it happens in London and I'm a 2h+ train ride away. In addition, I'm attending university and don't like being in crowds. Although, I have designed some boycott logos that I can post here if wanted.

I prefer buying in person since otherwise I feel lazy, but I'll have a go.

Sure! Would love to see them.
