Needs more words and fewer pixels. I can almost read this. OccupyDemocrats' formatting is dogshit.

Yeah, it's like someone figured the best way to destroy a country and it's all going according to plan. It's such a trainwreck, it's hard to imagined it's not planned.

I'm not saying it's planned, it's just so bizarre.

[–] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

By all means you should acknowledge it was planned.

That there are no prominent discussions of conspiracy from our past outspoken conspiracy ideologues shows how fucked up the entire situation is

[–] courageousstep@lemm.ee 30 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Holy heck, you make an excellent point. This kind of activity should have conspiracy theorists working overtime. I haven’t heard of any bubbling to the surface. No “Q-anon”-type theory about why this is all happening the way it is.

Is that because most conspiracy theorists have been undercover disinformationists? Is that because most conspiracy theorists are actually in support of the values the coup is taking on (eugenics, authoritarianism, etc.)? Is it only because the left is saying what’s actually happening behind the scenes and no one came come up with any explanation crazier than that?

Huh. Interesting.

Looks like the conspiracy theorists are really just GRU agents:

Conspiracy theorists generally stop caring when the media proves they're right. Trump hadn't even left his office (his 1st term I mean) when prove came out Russia meddled in the us elections.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

He hadn't even taken office when it was known. That's how Moscow Mitch got his name.

Here you go. Take extra time looking into Praxis Nation in Greenland. The Nerd Reich is a terrifying bunch.

it's hard to imagined it's not planned.

It was all planned. They wrote it all down, called it "Project 2025", then said they definitely wouldn't do it whilst giving a big wink and crossing their fingers. Aparently that was enough to convince enough people.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I mean, Project 2025 was the plan.

It was in all the newspapers and everything.

don't forget declaring hostile trade positions towards everyone. trump has essentially put sanctions on the USA from inside it

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

Weird. He has a choice.

  1. Make a trade agreement
  2. Be a dick and threaten to take things by force.

All resources were there for the asking, but not as a zero-sum.

It's like they skipped the war and fighting part and just jumped straight to surrender and dismantling the country.

They gave in before the fighting even started or was announced.

It's like going to a street fight, tearing open your shirt and slicing your our throat before anyone ever said anything bad about your gang.

Oligarchs destroy everything they touch.

[–] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

I think their plan is to break every public institution, privatize it and buy it back for one tenth of its worth.

Same thing happened in the USSR in the 90s.

Also somewhat hopeful in that he says the forces of resistance are building both within the US and abroad. I'm not sure I share him optimism.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 2 points 9 hours ago

are building

I find that objectively correct. Will it be ready soon enough though, that's a different question. And what else is building meanwhile.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

We hear you. We just can't do anything directly.

If you hear the French, then take a page from their book on how they deal with a corrupt, rotten & incompetent government.

I suppose the burning of Rome made a lot of previously subjugated people celebrate wildly for the misfortune of their conquerors.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

The Great Fire of Rome killed a lot of people and destroyed a lot of wealth, but was inconsequential to the Empire as a whole. This is more Emperor Honorius bribing the barbarians not to invade, then stiffing them and pissing off to feed his pet birds as Rome was looted for the first time in over 700 years.

[–] RainbowHedgehog@50501.chat 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This happened like a month ago. This isn’t new. The speech still slaps though.

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

France taking it back to 1798 with the Quasi War.

Never ever forget or forgive Paul manafort.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Time for France to repay us for WW2 and bail OUR asses out!

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, they already bought us a large part of our independence.

A blast from the relatively recent past.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 2 points 18 hours ago

Good point; hopefully they can see clear to helping us keep it. Doubt I’d fare too well under the new king.
