I work at a university and learned yesterday that the current administration has removed the legal status of at least three of our international students…without notifying the university or the student. Just up and deleted their visas.

The government made innocent, law-abiding college students illegal for no fucking reason and didn’t tell anyone. Why do that unless you’re planning to raid their home, kidnap 18-22 year olds, and spread terror?

They are doing this all across the country. I read a Higher Ed article about it. I’m sure no university has been left untouched. Thousands of innocent people threatened with ICE raids for no goddamned reason.

Deporting “illegals” my ass. This has never been about deporting undocumented people.

I can’t say if this is objectively better or worse than what Biden did, but I do know that this is outright evil.

Yeah, if you take a look at the “lifetime data” of many of the stocks, it’s pretty clear that they are still really freaking high.

Amazing. Something like this is a pipe dream in the states.

I know a lot of the Nazis took inspiration from eugenics movements in the US, so I am sad to see that the same migration of ideas is still happening today.

Morbid curiosity has me wondering what will happen if the entire world turns fascist, rather than just a couple of countries who get targeted by antifascist militaries from the rest of the world.

If the economy crashes, people won’t be able to pay their loans, which I sincerely hope will fuck up a billionaire or two.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention the waste. I don’t like the destruction that nuclear waste passes on to our descendants for that many years. That’s being a bad ancestor.

I haven’t had that experience. I barely understand how Lemmy works but this app I use makes it function like Reddit. I can’t even tell the difference, day to day, but vaguely understand that if the “country” my account is on starts to get weird, I can emigrate elsewhere.

I can’t point fingers as an American, but like…Germany was so proud of having pushed out far-right extremism.

I’m loving the interest rate.

I saw it as a hotbed of racism and sexism with a ton of awful posts, so I never wanted to visit that sub.

Also, yeah, why what makes someone want to spend energy focusing on negativity when they could just…move on with life and let people enjoy things?
