Oh snap I completely forgot about that. Well, I'll hold the behaviour of our historical leaders up against the EU's any day. TBF they've had far longer to put stupid shit on record than we have ofc.

Treatment of the indigenous people

That's fair, and IMO should be the deal breaker. (edit: how unreasonable of me)

We're a junior partner and net recipient. Our judiciary flat out prevents most of our participation, and we'd likely leave it to join,

That thing that originated in Europe? Or the American version that isn't us?

(re?)electing a crack smoker.

He might have been re-elected as a Ward councillor, but I don't think it is fair to hold an entire nation responsible for 1 city's stupidity. A nation that for the most part considered them a laughing-stock.

Regardless, I'm not actually in favour of joining the EU directly but fully support bolstering our alliances.

lol wut? This is the first anti-Canadian comment I've ever heard. Canadians are unreasonable? "I do not know much about them, but in my self-admittedly ignorant opinion I think they are an unreasonable people". Wouldn't that make us fit right in if everyone in EU was like you?

lmao. I'm going to be laughing about your comment for the rest of the day. Thank you.

This BS is one of the reasons why the left are getting their asses handed to them like fucking everywhere. 'They' as a neutral pronoun is used as a fallback when nobody cares to point out the precise gender. You can't win for losing. Refer to someone's gender during normal conversation? Sexist. Speaking in a way that doesn't call out someone's gender because it is unimportant for the issues being discussed? Believe it or not: sexist? Or what not sexist enough? What is even the problem?

You've completely derailed the conversation and soured everyone to your cause(s). GG.

I wonder when it will start raining stockbrokers.

The radioactive nickel decays into stable copper and has a half life of 100 years. Not really 'waste'

What's that expression?

'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 50,000 times I become a rabid terrorist supporting gullible rube'.

Lol, I mean, the link you provided... to wikipedia... says they've been 'accused' of being right-wing or non-partisan so I guess take your pick who to believe? Their mission statement seems pretty respectable to me.

No, it's a question.

The protests come after calls were made on Tuesday on social media platforms for Palestinians in Gaza to come out and express their frustration against Hamas and the endless war in the Gaza Strip. Last week, Israel resumed its air and ground assault on Gaza in order to pressure Hamas to release all remaining hostages.

Some Palestinians voiced caution about publicly speaking out against Hamas for fear of retribution, but many of the demonstrators said they were tired of living under their conditions and need their voices to be heard.

A Vancouver Island author’s picture book about a puppy at a Pride parade is among several works at the centre of a U.S. Supreme Court challenge over whether parents have the constitutional right to opt their children out of lessons involving books with LGBTQ characters.

Robin Stevenson’s Pride Puppy!, a rhyming alphabet book, features a dog that goes to a parade with its family and breaks loose. Colourful illustrations by Julie McLaughlin depict the puppy bounding through celebratory scenes that include rainbow and transgender pride flags and characters featuring a range of ages, races, abilities and gender identities.
