I’m sure if they had protested any other issue that the response would not have been this extreme.

I know people, who should know better, that don't know who to believe. This is when faced with both a verifiable source with a track record of accuracy, and an obviously cunning lone wolf with no substance to their argument.

For every genuine source, there is a dishonest one churning out disinformation faster than the genuine sources can because quality takes longer.

Al Jazeera and FT are reporting on it too. But what’s your issue with the Intercept?

[–] FarraigePlaisteach@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

I see now. They definitely committed to the part!

I was seeing downvotes of hundreds of thousands and in some case even millions. But that's not the case when I log in from the standard Lemmy UI. (See left of picture) Also, tens of thousands of dollars are being solicited from the app (see right) Finally, some odd spam posts appear only via this app (middle right).

I don't know if this app is abandoned, but to the users: be warned. I've switched to alexandrite.app out of safety concerns.

I have no idea myself. The group I would like to see this would be institutions rather than the average person.

The ICJ has not ruled that genocide isn’t happening though, has it. Please show me where it does and I will happily wait. It has ruled that there is a plausible case for genocide and that Israel must take steps to prevent it. That is why the case is ongoing. The fact that you’re misrepresenting this ruling as a dismissal of genocide claims is, in fact, disinformation.

Germany is one of Israel’s largest arms suppliers. War crimes and crimes against humanity don’t only require bombs and bullets—they also require the financial and logistical infrastructure that Germany helps provide during the assault on Gaza.

People have a right to live in safety and dignity. That includes Palestinians, who are being systematically displaced, starved, and slaughtered. Germany’s repression of peaceful protest against this is another sign of its complicity.

If you’re truly so invested in “factual reasons,” then you should engage with the actual content of international rulings and human rights reports rather than dismissing criticism as propaganda. It's an irresponsible way to conduct online discourse.

“What’s one more violation?” - European Americans.

Is international law propaganda now? I've only heard Zionists say that. Are the headlines of UN health workers found buried with their hands tied behind their backs propaganda?

"Israel has a right to exist" is one of the biggest red herrings in political discourse. It's phrased to portray an abuser as a victim.

Israel does not have the right to do what it's doing now according to international law. Peaceful protestors in Germany have the weight of heavy handed policing coming down on them for this subject alone, exclusive of other subjects. Even a meeting with Francesca Albenese turned nasty - not at the hands of the group, but the German state.

There's more to just weaponry to a genocide, and Germany is complicit. So next time you're pontificating about facts, don't forget to include all of them. And check your definition of "propaganda".

I use my computer for so many things and I have about 200 applications on my computer. I don't know why, but it bothers me that everything happens on this one machine as well as seeing so many app icons (even grouped into folders). It's not an option, but I'd prefer to have dedicated computers for broad categories of tasks (Audio DAW, video editing, bash scripting, web dev, gaming, system stuff like disk space visualisation, web apps for social media and video sites, games, communications, office, music and film.

So I was thinking of installing something like openSUSE in a VM on my iMac. But I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Putting CPU intensive applications onto the VM is pointless since they'll struggle more. But putting convenient apps on the VM seems like a mistake too because it means that quick utilities like calendar, voice memos, alarms, contacts etc become inconvenient.

Anyway. I miss the days when all these functions weren't service by the same hardware and screen. Does anyone who can relate have any ideas?

One thing I've done is have my music served by Navidrome on a headless server.

I know links to long YouTube videos aren't ideal for platforms like Lemmy, but I thought this was an exceptionally sincere and constructive talk. There's analysis and solutions for screen addiction. The journalist seems to really know what she's talking about.

The main thing I got from this was insightful validation: It's helpful to delineate problematic use from non-problematic use. They discuss the brain patterns that lead to device "addiction" and more importantly, the behaviours that can get us out of it.

Anyway, I learned a lot and saw clearly many of the traps I fall into which was helpful.

I'll put the TOC here below. I don't know either of these people and have never heard of them before.

Well worth reading. A lot of aid was misattributed to European settlers but was actually from First Nations (who themselves had very little). They have scans of original letters sent with the aid.

I'm looking everywhere* but small fridges tend to have an energy rating of E or lower. Has anyone. come across a brand that manufactures them?

The 1989 movie created a wonderful world, but the sequel (Batman Returns) was in some ways a reboot because it changed the tone so much. If you were to cut scenes or elements of the sequel to make it feel more like the original 1989 movie, what changes would you make? I'm working on a fan edit.

My own thoughts are to remove the more fantastical and slapstick elements by cutting down on screen time of Max Schreck and the Penguin (due to the Adam West style gags). I'm thinking of delaying the intro of the Penguin until the ballroom scene between Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle.

What would you do?
