Maybe this is a dumb question, but what does pissrael's choice not to nuke / try to nuke Iran in the midst of all this say about the efficacy of nuclear deterrence, if it says anything?

I posted a Brookings poll a while back showing it had in the USA, but I don't know how much that translates to the UK.

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/poll-analysis-trumps-approach-to-universities-israel-palestine-and-antisemitism/

"

Although we have not asked specifically about universities in the past, we have asked questions about labeling people antisemitic in the political discourse, both before the Hamas October 2023 attack on Israel and after. The results indicated that Americans view labeling people antisemitic as more often used to delegitimize political opponents and critics of Israel than to describe people who are genuinely antisemitic. ... do most people know what hospital they were born in? I can name the city and state, but I don't remember the actual name of the hospital.

Someday I want to wake up, log-in to hexbear, and see Sisi's head on a pike, or his lifeless body swinging by the neck.

The gaslighting rhetoric around israel is mentally exhausting. israel is baby, always wittle baby ...

Yes, though I'm pretty sure they had considerably fewer in number.

israel has really fucked Jewish people's reputation globally, I don't think there's any point in denying or downplaying that. The conflation of jewish identity with israel has been horrifically successful in some circles.

To me, this is one of the main values of highlighting the existence and activity of jewish antizionists.

  • EDIT: just to be clear, I'm not endorsing zionist-style claims of a wave of antisemitism threatening jewish safety, just saying that a lot of people who used to be more positive or neutral towards jewish people now have much more negative attitudes than before.

So does Iran have some huge comprador / lib-brain issue or something? Bluntly, if the fucking trans-communist fringe website can see danger coming better than they can then that's really fucking scary.

Like, I'm hearing about major figures in their military and nuclear program being killed and they weren't even in secure military bunkers or anything? Is this correct?

If so, I would have to suspect some sort of compromised people or just absolutely naive dummies who need to be ousted from the ranks either way.

I don't want to sound like I know better than the people in charge, because I obviously don't, but what the fuck though?

This section caught my attention:

spoiler

On Chinese social media, people have accused police of "offshore fishing" — a phrase that refers to local police who have allegedly summoned suspects from other parts of the country for questioning for financial gain.

The phrase "offshore fishing" was censored last week on social media platforms in China, including Weibo and WeChat. [how do they confirm if specific words or phrases are actually banned? They don't specify in this article]

Haitang, the website popular with fans of boys love fiction, has also been suspended until July 8.

A spokesperson for Haitang said they were working on improving their services.

I will also note that they mention China's obscenity laws, but don't mention much about the content of the summoned authors' works, other than the homosexual nature of the content. I'm not a fan of obscenity laws as a concept, but the whole article frames the gay content as the focal point (calling it a "widespread crackdown on the 'boys love' genre in China," for example) when that may not even be what's causing the issue.

Sections like "the scale of action has been widespread, with estimates that at least 100 writers have been affected," also make me wonder, is this an exceptionally small genre? Because if it's really a genre-based crackdown, I'd think China would have considerably more than a few hundred people, even for the tiniest genre.

Again, I'm no supporter of obscenity laws, and I prize creative freedom in a society, but this seems like a re-framing of obscenity charges as an anti-gay crackdown.

When I read "method acting" I thought it was going to be horrible.

Anyone play it? Thoughts? Seems like something hexbear would like. I have not played it, but it looks interesting.
