Converting it to modern tools can definitely be done in a safely manner. I personally would start by running the new system in a separate network, just re-processing the requests that had been processed by the old system and checking it they came out with the same result. I would leave that on until it got to at least a year without any differences between the result of both systems. Only then would I start considering replacement.

I wouldn't trust such replacement on 95% of people I've worked with before. I definitely wouldn't trust someone with Elon's track record to manage it.

Just because you see similar effects in multiple scenarios doesn't mean they are all caused by the same thing. It might be something doze related in 90% of the cases and then something else entirely happening in some specific situation.

Because the US doesn't have any opposition parties or any local leadership that can organize anything. Protests in other places are usually organized by unions, for example. In America everyone just sits at their own couch thinking "someone should be doing something by now" and it never crosses their minds that they should be that someone.

Is that how it is these days? If I log with my Microsoft account on a Windows device, the username used is only part of my first name. It always annoyed be that it was cut in a very unnatural way and I had no way to change it. I searched for some way to fix it and what I found said it was auto generated way back in the first time I used it on a windows pc and that it was saved in my account in some attribute that nothing ever updates.

Bazzite has out of the box support for those too! Though Epic specifically tries to go out of its way to break stuff on Linux.

You can get the same stuff on Mint too if you configure it.

Don't beat yourself over it if you're only using Facebook to take value from it.

I personally wouldn't say Manjaro is great (for people converting to Linux for the first time) - mostly because of how annoying it is to install stuff on it.

Give Bazzite a try, it's a complete different approach from traditional Linux. Instead of trying to make it easier to tinker with, they're trying to make it so you won't ever need to. Bazzite is focused on being a Linux for gamers, but it's pretty good for regular use too. Other options without the game focus are Bluefin and Aurora.

I've been using Linux for work for several years, but Bazzite was what finally made me go full Linux for everything just earlier this year.

I don't know about high refresh rates, but multiple 4k screens was a pain point in 2023 and it's a complete non-issue in 2025.

It was the cashier on a stationery shop. She had to hold the mouse in place with one hand so it wouldn't move, then used the other hand to click it.
