Dudes will queue to use unsafe mechanical equipment, while telling you "hold my beer".

Gather around kids, story time. It was 2002 and I had a desktop pc with two video cards, one Matrox with dual video output (they were pretty much the only consumer ones with that at the time) on AGP slot, and one "something" (probably ATI, it still had and RCA port) on PCI. So I installed gentoo (from stage1, as it was custom at the time) and fiddled around with xorg.conf to have two monitors output from the Matrox and a third (yes, I had 3 monitors) from the ATI.

That's when I understood the power of Linux (no way win2000 was able to do that).

So if I get this right: live with others with society moral constraints, or live by (mostly) by yourself and do the fuck you want?

2 is tempting but I know after a while it's going to be a problem (I like being by myself but it's not healthy).

So I'd take 1 with holidays on 2. Unless I can also decide population on 2. I don't need "loved ones", I'd like someone to have a drink and do stuff IRL with sometimes.

Our incomes are very different. I take care of budgeting and paying 90% of stuff. Wife has a rough idea of budget, plus she budgets/pays some on her side (and I have a rough idea of that). Whatever's left afterwards (usually in my account) is ours, not mine. The stuff for my hobbies is in the budget, not what's left. What's left (if any) is additional savings basically.

And works really well!

Nothing. As a parent it's my job to infodump about my kids to others.

But seriously, don't ask questions about other kids, you don't know what's going on in their lives.

If something good happens we'll tell you.

Daaamn that explains a lot

Hello everyone! I was thinking about starting a website where to dump some guides on stuff Iearn about selfhosting and general IT stuff.

I don't want a WordPress or similar. I want static pages (but I'm ok with some JavaScript for navigation maybe, or for proper display on different kind of devices). Ideally I'd like to host it on an AWS S3 bucket since it has the built-in option for static hosting.

I could even go back to the '90s and do it myself from scratch in textedit and html by hand, but I'm pretty sure there are better options out there.

I took a look at Hugo but even that it seems overly complicated for what I need.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
