Just embedding your linked image quick

Thank you; I'ma have to dig-in a little as to what html and markdown are, and how I can understand them better. I always feel like I'm missing some kind of "common knowledge" when it comes to the intermingling of internet/network/program-language. I'm no programmer either, but forever curious

Knowledge is power and it's fun to share!

I guess the exclamation point (!) is what tells lemmy to embed the link. I wonder if that works with non-image url's?

Edit: Huh... nifty. And that's where my knowledge hits a wall, cause I have no idea what's happening in the background, where one url can be embedded as an image, and the other shows up as a "'obj' box". I just don't understand enough to know what makes an "image" embedable

Huh, this is what I see

But when I click on the small "obj" box, I can see this image

Both of those embedded images, I saved to my phone and inserted using the Boost app. I wonder if I copy and embed your posted-image-link manually, will you also see just a "clickable 'obj' box"? Let's see...

Maybe it has something to do with the app loading it to an instance's "pictrs" first? That's way above my knowledge though

Edit: I see someone already helped you get it sorted out! Yay, we all learned something today

I'm not the savviest, but I think it's kinda like turning a description into a url ---> [description into a url](https://example.com/)

I think you just need an exclamation(!) in front of the brackets[] and no description needed between brackets

![](https://europe.pub/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgif.something%2F)

Now if someone could explain to me what the exclamation(!) does, or why it's needed, I would appreciate it

$116 of groceries that you can carry up the stairs‽ So like, a few bananas, an avocado, and some stale bread (no toasting required)? Quit removed, you're spending wayyy over your means, obviously! Lemme guess, you occasionally enjoy cheese as well. Have you tried $116 worth of beans instead?... I bet not, you bougie peasant

Same; haven't looked at reddit since I came here (other than the occasional search engine question where a reddit thread has the info)

Not a failed assassination, but a warning maybe? His health issues have been in the news lately, his "special operation" is wayyyy over-budget... someone's making him look more vulnerable. Who though??? That's my dumb conspiracy; he's losing power and someone's been waiting to fill that vacuum. Corporate-takeover style? Idk, I'm just riffing

I have pictures in my phone (somewhere) of the tags for some bedding that I really enjoyed on a vacation once. Haven't bought them yet, but I haven't forgotten. 'Snuggle bug' is one of my favorite pastimes

There are dozens of us; I've even added a couple of plain grey tee's, and a navy blue one (that almost looks black)
