Killer sound from those axes. Lookin forward to the big discography review!

Swedish atmospheric sludge/post-metal with rough vocals. Linked is the opener to the last LP released in 2022. Evokes a frigid forest that is very damp and permeates everything - call of wilderness in darkness. Maybe I'm just thinking too much about it lol.

Long time German black/thrashers Desaster released a second single for their upcoming album coming out in about two weeks as of this post. Mostly black metal, but still retaining the thrash and speed we all love.

One more of the underground groups I'm going through at the moment. This French Canadian band sound a lot like if Prong played more into death metal. That is to say, they are groove/thrash with touches of hardcore and death metal and a smidge of industrial. Also the voice channels a lot of energy from God Hates Us All. I've heard this would be good for fans of Fear Factory too.

I absolutely love the bass sound underneath it all and the production is great. When the thrash riffs hit, they tickle me just right lol. But having to kind of slog through the heavy slow groovy parts kinda drags it down a bit. So I'm linking a strict thrash song, a bit uncharacteristic to the rest of their catalogue!

I'm hearing loads of death metal laden with heavy metal. While the riffs are indeed fuckin awesome I probably wouldn't classify it as thrash.

Anyone have any suggestions that sound like this, but with a bit more singing thrown in?

Metal Archives is being useful as ever (/s) in the recommended department as all they rec are more death metal bands with low growling. This does kinda sound like a less atmospheric, higher production Amon Amarth from before Fate of Norns, where Johan Hegg had a higher scream/growl - but that's just based on what I know xD.

Maybe they just really didn't like Peewee Herman? xD

Ignore the silly-ass name lmao - another of the truly underground bunch I'm going through at the moment. This band shows a fuck-ton of promise and they could truly rise in the future! This band from Germany is like a mix of Exodus with modern crossover thrash; throw in some creative songwriting and you have potential! Today I share a thrash track with a fuckin violin solo lol.

What can I say that hasn't been already said? Late night post cuz I felt like it.

Here we have the closer to Metallica's last great album with the mythical Cliff Burton. His intro on this track was supposedly inspired by "Come, Sweet Death" by Bach (listen to that tremendous bass and the camera shaking!), before launching into the Battery mirror that rounds off this classic album.

Split up Swedish band that played modern thrash metal/crossover thrash. Had a great sound not unlike Municipal Waste or old school Anthrax. Unfortunately the slower tracks really drag on. So I present to you one of their fastest tracks in number 3, TEAMxDEADx.

Modern brutal death metal, or slam as they call it nowadays. Probably their best song imo. Got some guest vocals from Aaron Heard from Jesus Piece, a metalcore band formed in Pennsylvania in 2015.

Opener for their latest album from 2016, this doom/stoner metal band creat a hazy, pessimistic atmosphere that slow and heavy as fuck. I realize that describes most stoner doom, but this legitimately sounds great to listen to, especially for those of us feeling lethargic lately lol. The voice is like a higher strained wail but not grating, guitars and bass are abuzz about and drums do their job. Overall pretty dope 🤙.

Huh, I'm not sure if this lesser known band from France is in it for the bit or take themselves so seriously it's hard for anyone else to lol. They definitely wear their inspirations on their sleeves, and you've all most certainly heard it before. Doesn't make this release bad, just a bit stale! They've also self-censored so I don't have to make this as NSFW xD.

This has a fantastic sound I would've been all over growing up, kinda reminds me of a dirtier The Crown from Sweden lol. Actually when it's just the main dude performing his vocal abilities, it really is like a mix between Randy Blythe from Lamb of God and Johan Lindstrand!

Shame about them not being on Tidal :/

Very underground modern Italian thrash/crossover. Has a decent overall sound, and they definitely (deaf in italy lmao) have potential. I'm looking forward to anything they might release in the future; they seem to experiment with their voice a bit here and there throughout the album. Today I share the fourth track in their debut, a song with more in depth songwriting and time changes.

It's got a bit of black tinge to it and it's not bad over all, I really like the artwork!

They really fed us this EP very slowly over the past few months. Was just reminded this came out last week and I had to share the song Tyrant King cuz it's so goood. I really hope they keep this direction for the band cuz this fuckin slaps while being silly as hell at the same time lol.

Oh hell yea, something to check out when I have down time! Thanks for posting this. 🤘

Seems like my recs just got a boost, thanks for that lol. I was curiously peeking at that Season of Mist bandcamp and saw stuff that looked intriguing so.. you bet your sweet bippy I'm gonna check out more xD.

Well now, that's an aesthetic you don't see every day. These crazy cowboys play some sort of hybrid of modern crossover thrash with metalcore. Voice reminds me a lot of Riley Gale, but more just a bit more deeply strained. It is what it is, I struggle to come up with another sentence lol - It doesn't suck at all but apart from the material and themes, you've probably heard this before.

Incredible, makes sense they would borrow this riff. But also that you remembered it after so long! xD
