You could buy a second hand SFF machine. These are cheap (100€/$) and can run a lot of containers.

I have never had an issue with SD-cards but if I would invest in a m.2 hat I would definitely use it for everything.

It's faster and more reliable and disk space isn't that expensive nowadays.

Same.

In short: Yes, every computer van become a server. It is a matter of installing the right software :-)

The software you know is made to interact with using your screen, but there is a lot of software that is not using your screen at all but is going to interact over your network, like Nextcloud Server :-)

You could just follow the installation instructions for Nextcloud Server on your laptop.

Yes, absolutely.

Despite the inclusion of Israel (which is hated by fans, presenters and other artists, so everyone except the organization itself), it still feels like a festival of art and inclusitivity (is that the right word?).

And I love it. Still have the PED (Post Euro Depression) today. It's so much fun following these artists all week and I'm in an empty space now.

32" with 27" on the side.

Barely using the 2nd monitor.

Tried using double 27" but it didnt work for me (I just focus on one monitor).

I tried a curved ultra wide once. I loved it for work and gaming, but i am so used to having 4k that I experienced it as blurry, and 4k curved monitors are €€€.

Moral of the story: dont get used to 4k, it will spoil you.

Debian.

It's stable. Everything has support for Debian. I'm comfortable with Debian. Also everything that is not available as a deb-package goes in a docker container.

I run a bunch of Minecraft servers, the *arr stack, and pihole on a single NUC.

I also have a VPS. Also Debian. It is my VPN gateway for my home network (tinc is nice) and everything that needs to be public facing (minecraft proxy+a website that I host for my sister).

My work laptop + gaming rig is LMDE which is also Debian.

I'm not so much a Debian fanboy but my tinkering days were in the past, if I would still have the time I would probably run something cool like Arch or NixOS. Now I just want something that works.

Oh yeah, my media player is a Pi with LibreElec. Write to SD card and you're done :)

Agreed! I feel like there is an underlying question here. Like, did the OP get called out for not-really-selfhosting-because-VPS?
You do not need to define the word just because you want to host your own server for product X.
