As I said, two things can be true. He's a dick, but I still think he's right about this.

I am honestly not informed enough to say whether the whole Ghibli trend grew organically, or whether it came from OAI marketing.

And yeah, Myasaki can be a bit of a dick, but I don't think he's wrong here. I worked with both LLM and image generation for some personal projects, and you have to coax it a lot to get anything halfway usable, and even then, it isn't great. Even stuff that's heralded as exemplary by the corps behind the trend mostly seems kinda shitty.

Also, even if you like GenAI, most of the stuff that OAI is doing right now feels like desperate attempts to keep the hype train rolling, to justify their frankly ludicrous valuation.

Because Myasaki has very publically spoken about thinking AI generated stuff is horrible and soulless, and that he'd never use it. Them coming out with a Ghibli filter felt like it was a reaction to that.

I don't think anyone says the Ghibli filter is copyright infringement. You can't really copyright an art-style. It's just kinda a dick move.

First SanDisk, then Samsung. The Samsung ones usually lasted a bit longer.

I think the Card that has held up the longest (still in use, currently in some Raspberry Pi) is one from SiliconPower. Also, some Samsung 128 and 256 cards (from their Endurance Series I think) that I gave away to a friend who uses them in her camera.

I gotta admit I don't really care. Back when I used MicroSD Cards in my phone, they kept dying, and even midrange phones now have more internal storage then I need.

I can see why people want the option, but I personally haven't missed it.

Didn't know they where German. My main association with them is that their stuff is kinda ass.

Recently needed to set up a Win11 VM. It worked after removing the network adaptor from the VM setup, and then using the bypassnro command.

Fucking Microsoft.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Might not want to get too familiar with having collateral damage in our vocabulary.

Lol, ML image recognition is also AI. Don't think they want drones that talk shit.

Kinda depends on what you mean by produced. From what I can see, the modules are assembled in Europe, which makes them more European than other RAM, I guess.

Is that a reference to a specific Justitia statue? Because I am pulling a blank on there being any french-made ones in the US, except for one at the courthouse in the Bronx. That one's by a french artist, but it doesn't have the scales or blindflold.
