Organisms like viruses, bacteria and fungi don’t care about country borders. The US withdrawing from the WHO sadly just means that the world will be less capable in responding to emerging threats overall.
Edit: Still a good joke though ;)
I’m doing the best I can myself despite my disillusionment. And I appreciate everyone who does the same. I wish humanity would unite in facing this threat, but I’m not holding my breath.
Ah cmon now, stop spreading conspiracy theories. They probably just couldn’t prove citizenship and were deported.
in case all efforts to stop climate change fail.
Are these efforts in the room with us right now?
Why is this commentworthy?
Have you tried getting used to plain water? I did a few years ago and now I don’t have to buy water or maintain a device and buy cylinders constantly.
Giving me news about US "actions"…
You do realize that OPs article is about a US “action”? You’ve now been informed and might be able to take action like voting accordingly, writing to your representatives etc.
Or, as per my initial comment, you could’ve ignored US news and would be none the wiser.
Edit: one more thing, you know the US-made/Tesla boycotts happening all over the world? They’d not be happening if everyone ignored US politics.
Where did I say we should focus on another country? Why does everything have to be black and white?
There are shades in between ignoring and focusing on you know?
I can hear the echoes of people saying “why should I care about US politics?”
This is one example. The biggest problems we face as humanity can only be solved with a global effort.
And people can decide for themselves. Just as the author can decide to include/exclude things they deem appropriate.
Ok, I agree with that. But it doesn’t work like that for other decentralized solutions either afaik. If you move from one instance in the Fediverse to another you will not retain your username@instance
So what’s the difference for the user?
