My favorite part of this game is that the developers had to write special code so that Mickey's ears are always facing the camera as is canon in Disney animations.

My wife is playing through Dreamlight Valley and they used a static model and it's depressing.

https://nebula.tv/

Lots of popular Youtubers are already there, and they strip the sponsor segments out of their content too.

But the j-“ism” creates us. It’s a cycle.

My personal rule is female adjective is okay, female noun is not.

a loan for a used car sounds wild to me.

Predatory car loans has entered the chat.

I don't know about Carvana, but plenty of scummy dealers will give insane rates to people with no credit check, repo the car while they're still underwater on the loan, and sell it to someone else. You can have two or three people paying off the same car.

Oh, also, they somehow encourage the most gullible people who can't afford their loans to just let the car get reposessed instead of attempting to sell it back to the dealer.

If you watch it, there's an air of excitement and surprise given off by the person on screen that comes across even though their voice is heavily masked. Makes me think the dude was jacked to the tits when they finally saw it working.

It’s melting point is 85F, but I’ve found it difficult to melt with body heat. Haven’t played with it out of the vial yet though. Maybe it’ll be easier when it’s thinner.

That's a shit prank, and people like your nan don't understand how pranks work.

A good prank should allow the subject to join in the fun. Some stuff came up this year, so my plans have to be delayed until next year, but I bought a vial of gallium that I'm planning on molding with a cast of one of our kitchen spoons.

So my wife will wake up and see that her coffee melted her spoon. Little miraculous and inexplicable moment in the morning.

(Gallium is non-toxic)

For anyone struggling, lemmy web interface added the colon into the URL for the blog post link. Here's a clickable version without the colon:

I think talking about it as a data throughput issue is a good take.

Like, I can ask siri to set a calendar event faster than I can scroll through calendar pages and type a description, but flicking a lightswitch will always be faster than asking a computer to.

A believed a guy who said he just got out of jail and needed $10 for a bus ride home. I was 17. Found an ATM, gave him the cash, saw him walking around the mall with his girlfriend 20 minutes later.

I'm hosting a few services using docker. For something like an openstreetmap tileserver, I'd like it to remain on my SSD because high speed improves performance, and the directory is unlikely to grow and fill the drive.

For other services like NextCloud, speed isn't as important as storage size, so I might want it on a larger HDD raid.

I know it's trivial to move the volumes directory to wherever, but can I move some volumes to one directory and some volumes to another?

You always hear about gun sales in the US, but you never hear about what happens to the guns at the end of their lifecycle. I assume guns wear out eventually, and I assume you can't just chuck them in the garbage when they do. What happens to them?
