While I can't claim any personal experience here I know that it was slapped with a warning on the /r/piracy megathread years and years ago because of persistent issues with even skulled users uploading malware and nothing being done in a timely manner. This is really one of those areas where using a semi-private site like rutracker with real moderation or a private tracker or place that's dedicated to software (and trusted due to staff checking of all submissions) primarily is safest because a big general tracker like TPB just doesn't moderate for that stuff or have staff who actually check.

I'd say it's also to be able to deliver their propaganda uncensored. If your people rely on satellite dishes from a company located in the US they can give you the finger if your courts tell them to take down or block links to atrocity propaganda. They can ignore legal requests to unmask users in your country violating the laws by spreading atrocity propaganda and color revolution rhetoric. Whereas if it's local you can arrest people and send in technical experts to force the issue of blocking something or unmasking a person.

It's a question of sovereignty.

It's not the most rational or materialist of me but I often find myself hoping that space communists with incredible levels of technology just show up and disable all the US nukes, render them inoperative or destroy them and after a big long tantrum the US finally gives up. Because it almost seems to require magical intervention of that sort to imagine a future where the white supremacist west doesn't blow up the world rather than accepting loss of hegemony. And I think China is deeply aware of this and it's why they're trying their best not to go too hard on the west and trying to find some sort of win-win situation that just drags it out into the distant future where China has more chances of developing some breakthrough technology that might help them negate that.

so some (and likely more as time goes by) may think doing a full MAD apocolypse is just a simple "reset" button. flip the tables, start fresh. even better if they know a few hours ahead of time.

Yeah it terrifies me. More than climate change I feel if they get to the point that they have competent AI that's been refined for energy efficiency and effective robotics including humanoid-like ones that the bourgeoisie know that this situation isn't sustainable and will choose to just create a new economic mode where they rule as aristocracy over what they imagine to be a glorious new age of expansion and rebuilding via their vast armies of machines and AI and some slave workers and so on and this conveniently solves climate change for them as well. I feel like the clock is ticking, I really hope the empire expires before 2030.

Those are the silliest things to stockpile. 1) You can get a bidet, 2) even without it we produce TP here. 3) We also produce tons of food here, we're a huge exporter, unless these officials are huge fans of Chinese brand chili crunch or ramen or something they don't need to worry about that. If anything things like soy should in theory have a price collapse for a short while as farmers go bankrupt before the price shoots up and stays up for years after due to a shortage. But you can't stockpile the things that matter long-enough term to matter, they'll spoil.

What you should stockpile is electronics, is household goods made in China that you go through. You should not defer purchases but make them now, now, now for that new TV or hard drive for yar har or video card for , etc.

Under communism this will be the only allowed format of super hero cape-shit movie. Just a series of movies where Magneto is right and vindicated and eventually wins in the series with the help of his human communist comrades and a broad group of mutants. And it ends with him visiting his friend Professor X in a comfortable low security re-education facility (actually located in the professor's mansion for some reason) and playing chess with him in a homage to the old movies where Magneto is imprisoned and Xavier visits him to play chess. Then as the credits roll Magneto appears for a short message to remind the audience that in real life hundreds of thousands of ordinary people risked it all, sacrificed greatly and gave their lives to overthrow capitalism and that they are the true super heroes.
