This perspective is very common in online communities about any sort of charity or non-profit.

"Don't donate money to whatever charity, they just waste the money on whatever thing"

Truthfully, it's just an excuse to assuage the guilt arising from refusing to support these organisations.

Sorry but this is just batshit crazy.

Make a list of the world's 500 most greenhouse gas producing companies. Ask the board of each of them who Greta should endorse and they would unanimously say that she should make a statement refusing to endorse either.

It doesn't take much intelligence to realise that the least worst option is the best option, particularly when the people voting for the worst option will not be dissuaded.

I realise that most lemmy users revere Greta like the morning sun, but I'm supremely confident that if Trump wins a lot of "message voters" and their influencers will feel pretty silly in a year or so.

Well she's pretty much wasted her influence here.

Very few people care enough to read her nuanced opinion, and those people will be democrat voters anyway.

To anyone that needed to hear her message she just said "both sides are shit right now, and everyone's shit is emotional right now".

Elections are lost with complex messaging.

Gretas problem generally is that she looks great to intelligent progressive young activists, but she just makes everyone else feel... chagrined I guess. What I mean is that she's incapable of changing the opinions of the people who need to change their opinions.

What is this alternative of which you speak?

God that fucking bot.

The bot itself is only mildly offensive, but the fieflord bot-love is just repugnant.

About a month ago news did a "feedback about the bot" thing, in which they declared undying love for the bot above all things and declared any input other than breathless support for the bot to be vote manipulated misinformation.

There were about 3 mods involved, all contradicting each other, and themselves, very condescending, and very sooky and sulky. "One of the mods almost resigned over this!" kind of stuff.

You had to start every comment with "look I know you guys are doing your best and investing all your free time as volunteers but..."

My honest interpretation is that there are actually very few right wing propagandists masquerading as lefties, but they are very effective at bringing hapless idiot lefties to their narrative.

Nonsense, they're free to protest however they like. Choosing to do so outside the DNC is very clearly intended to undermine support for the dems, which will ultimately cause more suffering in Gaza.

This is very obviously a GOP strategy, to divide the dems base.

The left criticising the left, what a great idea.
