Hey all, prior to covid, a friend and I were playing our way through the lotr lcg. He had loads of store credit and bought several boxes so we could have any cards we might need, because (as i recall) there maybe only a single card in the initial box, but we might want (or need) multiples of those cards... So it necessitated buying several starter boxes. I imagine the game was probably playable without that, but it was a convenience for cash sort of thing that felt predatory to me.

I wanted to try the Arkham Horror rerelease, but thought i would ask here if that sort of thing was part of this as well? Or had Fantasy Flight decided to be less shitty with this game?

I appreciate input! Thanks!

You dont appreciate how stupid you were until you are older. Then you realize you were stupid when you were younger, and are stupid now, but over different things. If this isnt a persons experience in life, they are almost certainly a Republican. (Joke... Mostly)

This is because with a lot of things in life, you have to actually experience them to figure out if and how you could have handled it better. You dont regret everything you do, but the things you eff up, stick with you...

Former stupid kid, current stupid middle ager.

This is not a breakup song, but about many things i think. However the allusions to loneliness (or maybe solitude/isolation rather than loneliness) have me slot it partially in the breakup category... "Reckoner" by Radiohead.

I am pretty old, and i feel like the news cycle when i was a very young kid (this was during the iran hostage crisis in the early 80s) always pronounced it "eye ran". I feel like that continued through the iran contra scandal, but by then some were pronouncing it "ee-ron".

I try to get it right now, but its hard to erase that old programming. I also think anyone who "roasted the shit out of you" for it is a doucher. I think giving someone passive shit for that faux pas would be acceptable, but roasting the shit out of someone? Cmon... I don't feel like it's that big of a deal.

When in public:

Push door open (usually with elbow) Do business Extract paper towel, but do not grab them... Wash hands Get paper towel that has been dangling and begin to dry hands Use paper towel to get more paper towels (not touching the paper towel dispenser mechanism with skin, using the used ppr towel) Use new paper towel to secure the soiled one, and complete doing my hands, and turn off the water... Use paper towel once more to open the door out of the bathroom

There is literally a new cape fear movie coming out, with Javier Bardem as Max.

It seems to me that Turtle Wow was a great idea... BUT their decision to start advertising their presence across MULTIPLE platforms indicates to me that they were trying to cash in, by existing their donation base, before the inevitable end. I can't accept that they are as culpable in their closure as Blizzard was. They could have kept their heads down and did their thing, but announcing an unreal release, and having an ad campaign... Huh? They did nothing but expedite their end. So while they may have been better then Blizzard (not a hard thing to do) it feels empty to trumpet them like they saviors. Imo, they took advantage of their players.

No, ive always thought this was a strangely tribal concept, and dl judge people who make their car that much of a part of their identity. Next they will be wearing red hats and rationalizing why Epstein wasn't that bad.

You will get varying degrees of people crapping on A Song of Ice and Fire, because it is incomplete... But the tale telling in his books are imo, unparalleled. Ive read and reread the series several times, and it always pays off, especially if you get into the deeper storytelling that you miss on the first read. Ive finally reached a peace with the author, after hating in him like everyone else... That is because i realized that id rather live in a world with the story he started, than live in a world where i never experienced the story at all.

Last week i finished the first book of a trilogy i had never heard of, and its a damn shame it doesn't have more fans. I urge anyone who sees this to add at least the first book to their reading list. That would be Bernard Cornwell's "The Winter King". It is a retelling of the King Arthur tale, from a new angle, and i LOVED it. The first book is pretty amazing on its own, and it stands alone. I have started the 2nd book, but not gotten too far into it.

Id also like to recommend The Black Company books by Glenn Cook. These are a different slant on fantasy, and really good.

I love a lot of his work, but he is insufferable. Its like he never got all of his edge lordiness out of his system when he was a teen, and now he is doubling down.

Heres to your fuck, Ben!

Hey all, hoping someone can chime in here. Ime closing in on my mid 50s, and have fallen far out of shape. The past decade has been a loss (physically) and covid made it worse. Post covid i have discovered that ive lost all willpower/discipline when it comes to dieting. I've lost considerable amounts of weight twice in my life, and both times slagged off and put it all back on for various reasons/excuses. My recent efforts have just all fallen flat.

Ongoing depression finally forced my hand, to do a couple of things I was previously very resistant to... I got my testosterone checked, and it was low, so I have gotten testopel treatment.. and that has made a definite difference in several ways. I always said I would not supplement testosterone... But I feel better today than I have in years. It hasn't been a cure all, but in general, it has made me feel better. The second thing, was finally getting on the standard GLP1. Again, something I never thought I would do, but again, desperate times...

For more background, I am a generally large framed man with a comfortably fit weight of around 260-280. Less than that I start to look sickly. However, I am well above that, and around 340, though I am losing. I am going to the gym and since I am doing solo workouts, mostly using machines, and still trying to figure out the weight ranges to use on them. It has been a slow process. I have always worked out with free weights, but I feel safer now on the machines, since I don't have a spotter. Right now I am just doing a push day, a pull day and a leg day. As I proceed I plan on adding reps to duplicate muscle groups in each of these.. but right now, I am just doing 3 sets of each exercise.

My primary focus is currently to keep moving and keep at it in the gym. I do not expect to get ripped, but I do want to build muscle.. I hope that getting some power back is possible. Anyhow, I felt like that was all a lot of background for my main question... Is a whey powder like Gold Standard something I should be taking to supplement my exercising? I used it when I was very regularly in the gym before, but I was also younger and much more fit. I didn't know if that owuld be considered flushing money down the toilet or not. I have already ordered some Creatine HCL, on the recommendation of a trainer at the gym. I have done some reading on it, and realize there is some debate on if it is better than Creatine monohydrate, worse, or generally undecided... But I figured something was better than nothing, and I didn't want to deal with possible side effects from the monohydrate.

At any rate, I appreciate any input that anyone more learned on the topic can offer.

Thanks!

Hey all, ive been looking at ereaders, and have been pretty bummed at the field. I dont really give a shit about note taking, and want a larger display (10 or 11 inches). I dont need any AI on it... The issue is, i cant find a larger display that DOESNT cram in the note taking/ai. I just want a reader. Before you say get a tablet, i realize thats an option, but not one i want to persue. I want the longevity of a eink display.

I dont think this object exists... At least i cant find it. I could be overlooking it, because ive been looking at so many, my algo could have blinded me to other options. But Kindle, Boox, and Kobos options in that size, all add in note taking. Which i could care less about.

I appreciate any input if you all have any!
