As long as that money is spent on public transit improvements, I think it's a great idea for many large cities.
This doesn't make any more sense than Windows phones made. They required way too many hardware resources and power to run a system that is designed to do a ton of things on a ton of different types of hardware. Handheld hardware needs specialized OS optimized for the platform and I doubt this will do that. It will likely have a ton of RAM and processing tied up in OS activities just like windows phones making everything slow and/or battery life really bad, but still not be able to run a lot of the stuff that would make this all worth it. Better to start with a more modular system like the base linux kernel and add only what is necessary than to start with the idea of supporting a ton of software and sacrificing the real purpose of the device (handheld gaming) to do it.
Many of us I the US want to come there, and we're willing to contribute, but the barriers of entry are too high. I likely won't be able to until after retirement and that probably won't be until I'm too old to move. And I have a lot to contribute if I could find a way to get on my feet. The US doesn't allow for building enough wealth to start a business right out of the gate, unless you're already born wealthy or get lucky and are willing to be exploitative, and in that case I could use a different visa to get in. Immigration isn't all welfare cases and even with those who do need that help having a system in place to allow then to contribute while they get on their feet would benefit everyone. Dump the idea that you need to be extreme capitalists like the US and start embracing the people who need help to get started and most of them will contribute significantly as they will be so prideful of the place that took them in.
No it sounds like it didn't copy itself to another server, nor does it understand what that means or entails. It just said that's what it would do given the hypothetical scenario. This is likely because of some dystopian fiction it was trained on. The system doesn't have the capability to do these things and any program should never be given that capability whether it's "AI" or not. If any software has that capability then the only one that would benefit from using it would be hackers.
Which is why Trump will withdraw from NATO and effectively neuter it in the short term allowing Putin to do whatever he wants until Europe can muster the resources to defend its Eastern-most and Scandinavian members, which Putin wants to annex.
Yeah, the first time I played Magic the Gathering with a friend's husband was in a 4 player Commander game. I had let kept less aggressive and made it look like I wasn't too much of a threat, all the while holding a combo that could deal quite a few points of damage, but would sacrifice a lot to do it. I waited until just the right moment, the turn before I was about to be defeated by the last standing player who was doing really well. And I won. 😁
But OpenAI not being allowed to use the content for free means they are being prevented from making a profit, whereas the Internet Archive is giving away the stuff for free and taking away the right of the authors to profit. /s
Disclaimer: this is the argument that OpenAI is using currently, not my opinion.
Yeah, it would be nice if it was easier for devs to just turn over the project to an "official" fork. Unfortunately, I'm sure that would get abused by scammers taking over projects forcefully and adding in malware before anyone notices.
Duck duck go is crap these days, probably since it uses Bing. All I ever get are "7 best ways to..." click bait, probably AI generated "articles".
I might be headed there too. For the first time in forever I like my manager and he always goes to bat for me. And I am the lead of a team I really like. But the company gave me a crappy raise despite huge profits and all the good feedback from coworkers that led to me getting the lead position (without raise) after only a little over a year.
Now they are reclassifying my job as an in-office position even though I was hired for remote and my team is spread across the country and the world including my manager, so I'd still be doing all communications over the internet. Fortunately, they are short on office space in my city and the next closest office is over 150 miles away and they made it so they only force people to commute 50 miles (as the crow flies, not actual driving miles) which is still ridiculous, especially for a couple of my colleagues who would have to take a ferry which adds a lot of time, or drive around a pretty big body of water to get to my city.
But if they try to force the office thing after expanding office space, or don't give me a better raise next year, especially after the unpaid promotion with extra responsibilities, I'm gone.
