I was for stuff that is so mundane I don't feel like typing it all. I was profiled for driving a cheap car at 2am in a nice area. I'm super white in the worst kind of privileged way, like tall, broad shoulders and can easily turn my slight southern accent on and off. I refused to let them search the car on principal alone, so they did a light search of my person. There was an issue with my license that let them do whatever to search me, but I know exactly what to say. By that I mean I know better than to say anything or interfere with a cop. They are not a judge and whatever they do is their own thing.

The cop made up that my tag light was out. I took pics the next day including all of the original DOT markings on the lamp and included a newspaper in the background with the date because that is enough for a court to accept the date in question. I then brought my business license, business cards from two businesses, and a picture of my old shop to show I am a professional auto body painter. I then testified that the vehicle was unaltered from the night before I was pulled over and that it was in full working order as it was originally designed and equipped. The judge dismissed my ticket, told the cop to approach the bench, and for me to leave the courtroom first. I did as instructed. A few minutes later the very pissed off cop came storming out of the courtroom and left immediately. I have no clue what was said or what happened, but it felt good to see it.

Cops can say anything. You must comply with anything they tell you to do, even if it is illegal. Cops are not judges. If they break the law, you must be able to testify precisely how and what they did for the whole incident. They get home field advantage so you have no room for error or questionable conduct. The trick is to know your rights and give them no room to maneuver. Never roll your window all the way down. If you are instructed to exit the vehicle, do so after rolling up the window, removing the key, and locking the door behind you. Never talk or volunteer any information whatsoever. When you're pulled over, put both hands either on the steering wheel, or better yet, put them palm up at the window like anyone that is carrying a legal concealed weapon is supposed to do. You will be asked about a concealed weapon at which point to tell them what you do or do not have and that you are only doing your best to put them at ease for their safety. When they must start off testimony with that detail, you greatly diminished their home field advantage with a double play out of the gate.

"How many toilets do you possess?" This interview question works both ways in many cases.

From a practical perspective, partitioning helps make a person unmarketable in practice. The ad industry is primarily driven by tracking the response of the individual. If you never mix your work device with your social device and both of these are isolated from your shopping device, it is hard to track responses. It is best to also keep all of these devices on separate VPN connections from different continents.

So starting from a schizophrenic as the lineal foundation resulted in a three headed god concept never contained in any canonical part of their book, the mulligan do-overs completely disconnected from their ancient ways, and the other brother magic tripping LSD globe trotter of the desert. Does that surprise anyone. What is surprising to me is that something so obviously nonsense is still so accepted.

Where are you getting that from? If this were a real constraint, Ukrainian systems would be a joke, as would those on Starship, planes, boats, etc. The low orbital infrastructure is specifically to ensure high throughput. Some offloading is logical in some circumstances, but not as a constraint.

This extortion and ad brought to you by Starlink and Elon Musk. It is what he talks about with Putin. It was never a real issue in the past. There is redundancy in the system. Cutting yourself off from communication assets is not very bright and hurts yourself as much as others in almost every case. The blind spot works both ways in the long term for an advantage that only lasts hours to days in limited strategic depth. So you take some asset in the dark. Now you need to defend that asset from the dark, or the newly created blind spot is now your vulnerability too. None of this makes much sense in the real world. What does make sense is an extortionist no one wants around trying to make everyone pay for his kingpin politics.

I have a small hard drive that is making a constant high pitched sound that is typical of the drive, and not very noticeable to the average person, but I have pain induced noise sensitivity. I am curious about how to calculate damping potential. As an initial guestimate, the frequency is very near to my maximum audible range and likely around 12kHz-16kHz. It is a little higher than the switch mode power supplies that I can also hear if it is dead silent in the room, although the drive is a higher amplitude. Addressing the noise with a solution is probably beyond the scope of anything I would actually do, but knowing how to solve it is far more interesting to me. (ELI15 )

Is it super standardised, like where all 30 or 40 pin LVDS connections are the same, as in pin and voltage compatible?

Are there hardware peripherals in a microcontroller that just drive LVDS like how UART, SPI, CAN, etc. work? Or is it a messy complicated thing with display specific power supply voltages, and unique power management requirements, baud rates and such?

I can find lots of old style monitor to HDMI or VGA conversions for an old laptop screen based on display model number. But what I am looking for is a USB-C/USB-3 to LVDS converter board small enough to fit into an old apple laptop top shell and act as a second monitor with all power and functionality controlled through the USB interface. I have the fab skills. If there is a simple chip that does USB-C PD/display to LVDS, I'll toss it in KiCAD and etch it myself if I can get the chip. In my past experience with small displays for hobby microcontrollers, they were anything but standard in most cases. I have never messed with the larger stuff though. It appears like most of the old style VGA/HDMI converter boards are mostly sold with the same hardware/board with the proper LVDS connector installed.

I can take care of the backlight driver part. I'm mostly concerned with what is going on with LVDS in practice. Anyone familiar with the subject on Lemmy?

Tarlogic developed a new C-based USB Bluetooth driver that is hardware-independent and cross-platform, allowing direct access to the hardware without relying on OS-specific APIs.

Armed with this new tool, which enables raw access to Bluetooth traffic, Tarlogic discovered hidden vendor-specific commands (Opcode 0x3F) in the ESP32 Bluetooth firmware that allow low-level control over Bluetooth functions.

In total, they found 29 undocumented commands, collectively characterized as a "backdoor," that could be used for memory manipulation (read/write RAM and Flash), MAC address spoofing (device impersonation), and LMP/LLCP packet injection.

Espressif has not publicly documented these commands, so either they weren't meant to be accessible, or they were left in by mistake. The issue is now tracked under CVE-2025-27840.

Dude was obviously baited into a staged situation. Words are worthless anyways. People that focus on words are imbeciles. Actions are what matter. Words are as hollow and meaningless as intentions.

These propaganda posts need to go. Nothing about this is news or relevant. It is Goebbels' Garbage.

I am trying to understand the limitations and weaknesses of a system of complex human social hierarchical display based on reputation and accolades instead of the accumulation of wealth. Academia is one such example of a hierarchy based on reputation.

What are the weaknesses of such a system, such as failures to account for human adaptation and growth? Where are factors that are not in line with meritorious achievement and the scientific process? What changes could be made to improve the social system of a reputation based hierarchy?

This post is heavily abstract and conceptually framed in layperson terms. Feel free to rephrase and infer meaning. I am thinking about a distant science fiction future when accrued wealth is no longer an adequate form of human hierarchical display, and the benefits, frustrations, and failures of such a system.
