That's cool, but if it's only piefed I can see the same conversations being repeated. Maybe it'll come to Lemmy. Or is Lemmy old hat now and we should all move to piefed?
I'm expecting this to be offered and not mandatory like other blood tests currently given to newborns. However even though it's optional, staff will promote it as potentially life saving. New parents with their vulnerable newborn are unlikely to say no to a free test. Anti vaxxers and privacy conscious will likely refuse, but it will be popular.

How is blocking scrapers easy?
This instance receives 500+ IPs with differing user agents all connecting at once but keeping within rate limits by distribution of bots.
The only way I know it's a scraper is if they do something dumb like using "google.com" as the referrer for every request or by eyeballing the logs and noticing multiple entries from the same /12.
You would likely be refused entry for not handing over the phone, legal or not.
Using a burner phone is the best bet.
