Why you acting like I sent you this in a DM unprompted 😂 Move along, maybe?

I switched to OpenRC years ago and haven't looked back. Brief adjustment period, but smooth sailing from there onwards.

I know I'm gonna fucking hate this game, but I've also been in my gaming comfort zone for too long and I need to shake that off, so I picked up Death Stranding.

My main concerns are:

  1. Too much time navigating menus.
  2. Navigating terrain will feel boring AF.
  3. Too much time skipping cutscenes, or worse: unskippable cutscenes.
  4. Boring combat.

I'm gonna give the story a shot, but I'm fairly certain the totality will amount to pretentious Kojima bullshit, and I'm not gonna waste time hate watching it only to yell about it in my review.

What I'm looking forward to: Conan 😂 And I know it's a short cameo.

I feel like I'm going on a needlessly bizarre excursion given my knowledge about my gaming preferences and the gameplay in Death Stranding, but fuck it, maybe a drastic change will do me good.

What's this dude talking about?! Everyone knows no one hates React like people who code in React 😂 No one is gonna get pissed off watching this.

Where did you look it up?

Merriam-Webster defines it as:

the force of impression of one thing on another : a significant or major effect

And lists "affect" as a synonym when impact is used as a verb.

I'm trying Metal Gear Rising one last time and it's just as obnoxious as I remember it. Like, you can do combos, but the game practically pushes you into perfect parries + zandatsu, and I just don't find this fun at all—way too one dimensional and repetitive.

Ima probably give it one more hour and call it quits.

I'm sure they can be done right, but I've never seen them done right, so I'm not for them. Everything starts to feel the same very quickly.

I'm guessing it probably got banned over technicalities, like "erect penis + vagina close up + penetration = x rating"

The article compares it to Romance, but Romance was not as visually explicit.

Hmm… F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow Torch is ~50 hour-ish—metroidvania with great combat.

Catherine is +100 hours if you go for 100%. Fantastic puzzle game.

Maybe check out Okami if you're into Zelda-likes.

Vanquish is probably the coolest 3rd-person shooter out there.

Signalis is one of the best survival horror indies.

Lastly, Prey if you're looking for more immersive sims.

I mean, I said "those who can intervene" and started listing them. It's a 4-sentence long comment, IDK what to tell you.

I feel like "the rest of the world does not care enough because it’s all happening too far away" is a bit disingenuous

Not really. You just took one sentence out of my comment and decided to zoom in on it, ignoring the rest of the comment for some reason.

In the context of my comment, I clearly mean:

Those who can intervene from the rest of the world do not care because it's happening too far away.

Civil movements can put pressure on governments, but they have no executive power; ergo, they cannot intervene.

The South African army is ~40k soldiers, no? I don't think they have the power to intervene; ergo, my statement does not apply to them.

I'm more calling out an entity like the Chinese government, who has the military and political power to do something, but do not care enough because they stand to gain nothing if they stop it.

The Mafia shit continues with no repercussions because governments nowadays are by the corporations and for the corporations.
