I got an alert from my security cameras of a possum in my front yard at 3AM. I think it's not normal to see one at 3PM.

Those scores are looking good. I’ll give this a watch as soon as it’s available on demand.

This happened to me once. It was a main road with heavy traffic. I pulled over to the right to let the ambulance pass, but because of traffic, I was effectively sitting on the right lane. Apparently the ambulance wanted to move to the right lane because they were gonna turn right at the corner up ahead. I felt like an asshole because to everyone else on the road, it looked like I intentionally blocked the ambulance. And the siren blaring right behind you while the driver is blasting the horn is very stressful.

Getting a new kitchen appliance is exciting. I was so amazed when I first got an air fryer. Also, getting socks as a gift is pretty good.

Not christian music per se, but I love Andre Antunes' metal renditions of evangelical preacher speeches. For example:

The Jericho Walls

I Demand with Kenneth Copeland

Unda di Blood

Bonus: Alex Jones and Rage Against The Vaccine

It does become emotionally heavy on some parts and I can imagine it can affect someone who is already dealing with something emotionally.

Weak Hero. It's meh. It's just bully-revenge porn, and it's not really grounded in reality. Some of those hits are instant death and characters walk away with a band-aid on their cheek. I heard (although did not verify) that the comic it was based on actually has a superpower element in it, and I guess they tried to remove it in an attempt to make it more realistic? IMO they should've just left the powers in so it's actually more believable.

Adolescence. Watched it last week. Very good. The acting and continuous one-shot was amazing. The main kid actor has a bright future ahead of him.

Same. At my work and everywhere I’ve worked, almost everyone responds like that to emails with multiple questions in them. It’s either OP’s workplace is an outlier or his formatting isn’t conducive enough for people to respond appropriately.

Does anyone know of a lemmy app that’s backward compatible and works on older IOS devices? I have an older iPad running IOS 12.5.7. Obviously I can just use the browser or a webapp but I wanted to check if there was an app.

I was able to install Liftoff before but it has stopped working since.

One of the best things that came out of the Arcane animated series is this song. They just released an official music video for it.

Are they basically just there to shoot down the plane before causes larger casualties by crashing into a heavily populated area? I can't imagine what else a jet can do to a large commercial aircraft in the air.

I'm a complete newbie. The only "investing" I've ever done is use HYSAs. Obviously the yield there, while pretty good, isn't as good as investing in say, the S&P 500. So I want to invest a chunk of my savings into that and just leave it there until I retire. I'm not really looking into daily/active trading or anything. The problem is I don't know how fees work with brokers.

I saw this graph a while ago so I was thinking of Fidelty. It also helps that I already have an account there for my employer RSUs and my 401k. On the other hand, a colleague of mine suggested Schwab and said they don't have any fees.

Can anyone suggest the best broker (minimal/no fees, easy-to-use, set-and-forget) that I should go with if I just want to invest in the S&P 500?

I've been on an HSA+HDHP for a couple of years now and only realized recently the interest earned from investing HSA money is also tax free, so I want to start investing a part of my savings and see how it goes. I have 2 options, Betterment or Mutual Funds. I figured I'd try the latter to avoid fees, but I'm not sure which funds to choose. My HSA currently provides 30 fund options.

I see people mentioning Vanguard a lot so I spread out my initial investment into 25% chunks across 4 different Vanguard funds. How did I choose them? Well I literally just looked at the performance graphs and selected the ones that historically went up steadily without major dips. As a total noob, how can I improve my choices? Is there a simple way to decide without having to dive deep into the stock market?

Anyone know what's up with the recent beta updates on IOS? I think the last 4-5 updates had no test notes whatsoever.
