A particularly dirty owl and a large hog who has recently soiled himself in a very specific fashion. I'm sorry that this is instantly the first thing I thought of, but this place has destroyed my brain.

If it wasn't an amicable enough split to leave all the interstate water agreements intact then California would last like 72 hours after the water was turned off. Which to be fair is probably true of like half the states west of the Mississippi River, but still worth considering
