because I haven't been paying attention, and it still works for everything I need it to work for. is there a security issue with continuing to use it? and is there a good replacement (ie., a mobile browser that uses regular Chrome extensions)

yeah. I think Android 12 or 13? I kept sending them feedback for like 6 months and then just left it.

(when you hit the recents button) I can't believe they actually restored a feature that they'd removed by accident during an update this is wild. how long has it been back? how many years did it take them to accomplish this

then I do not understand how safety numbers work.

the safest form of messaging I have is Signal, but the whole point of the safety number is to verify that the person you're talking to on Signal is really that person, so I can't send my safety number through Signal. any other option I have, the data is going to be harvested by somebody.

how do you all do it if you don't have physical contact with your Signal people?

specifically, the emoji ones, not the text ones underneath

solved: Settings >> Chats >> Chat backups >> Create backup

all the instructions I can find for creating a backup are instructions for transferring my account to another phone, which is not what I'm trying to do. I just want a nice little zip file or something that I can save on some third party storage device.

once a year I email my favorite flashlight manufacturer to ask if they've finally made a flashlight that just turns on and off when you push the button, and every year they're like, "no, but thanks so much for your feedback!"

be honest, have any of you ever used the flashing feature on your flashlight? did it actually come in handy? handy enough that I have to scroll past it every single time I want to turn my flashlight on or off
